Re: Pumpkin Spice Products Must be Stopped

I haven't read the entire thread. How many Spice Girls jokes have been made?

Re: Pumpkin Spice Products Must be Stopped

But there it was -- Nestle pumpkin spice chips for making cookies.

No. freaking. way. I thought perhaps you were joking, but it turns out these are quite real. I know our market is only 1/10th the size, but seriously, why do we have to miss out on stuff like this!? :scream:

Tharpdevenport, if you really want to cleanse you country of the pumpkin spice scourge, consider airlifting all these products up past your northern border! ;)

I vote we make Pumpkin Spice an all-year-around thing just so we can keep this thread going.

Tempting... but we sort of need the products to disappear for part of the year to lull Tharp into a false sense of security, and then next fall... BAM!

Perhaps someone should explain to Len Gigante that pumpkins are actually a food!

Yeah, my favourite bit is this:
"We don't eat Christmas trees. We shouldn't eat pumpkins," he told CBS News correspondent Michelle Miller.
Obviously, we don't eat Christmas trees. They aren't food, while pumpkins are. :D

Although I have to say, Gigante has an interesting name in relation to all this pumpkin talk.

Re: Pumpkin Spice Products Must be Stopped

I think the pumpkins usually used for food are somewhat different than the type used for decoration. I may have read it on that wellspring of nollij, "Wikipedia." :vulcan:

Send pumpkin spice to Canada? What am I, Isis?

For all I know, pimpkin spice is coming from Canada, hence the song, "Blame Canada!"

Re: Pumpkin Spice Products Must be Stopped

Nobody here is saying that pumpkin spice should be banned, or that it's somehow injuring us by its very presence. But Kor is right - even if it doesn't personally affect us, we still have the right to complain about its overuse.

Yes. We have the right to do many things that make us look dumb.

Re: Pumpkin Spice Products Must be Stopped

I am in amurrica so I thought of this thread. I see someone has already oreo'd me so I won't post that pic. I bought a pack of those to take home. I WANT the peanut butter!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a free one of these yogurts, it was goddam delicious.

I bet if I buy the peanut butter and try and bring it back aus customs will confiscate it because it is nuts. I know someone who had their microwave popcorn confiscated by customs because it was seeds.

But I am hoping to try.

^ That yogurt is really good. Real pumpkin makes a big difference with these things.

I just looked up Australia's Department of Agriculture and Water Resources page. Apparently, even packaged foods have to be declared. But it looks like you can choose to have food products irradiated (at your sole cost, of course).

And how does this make any sense when we hardly have any of those products in Canada in the first place?

Well, the answer is obvious: it's pumpkin spice. they were wise enough to get rid of it and pawn it off on poor unsuspecting Americans. Kind of like what they did to us with Celine Dion. ;-)

That being said, once holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving come around, we should expect pumpkin-related products to start showing up. At least where they make sense. ;)

Which is pretty much it. Like the internet's obsession with bacon (but bacon is delicious in any and all forms) it's taken an obsession with pumpkin spice to a ridiculous level.

Kor

10 years ago the irradiation was about 80 dollars. People do it who bring in wood from Africa, art etc..

I had no trouble bringing in dried fish last year. But apaz corn kernels will be the death of us all.

Anyway we'll see. I'd imagine if there'd been some salmonella outbreak with peanut butter recently in the US they would also take it away. I hope I can find it and try though.

Problem with that is... well, we still have Celine Dion. She never did go away.

You poor Canadians.

She's what we call an "international terrorist". Probably likes pumpkin spice, too.

I'm going to pick something up at a store tonight. Hopefully I won't encounter more pumpkin spice.

That was so Phase One. Phase Two is Justin Bieber.

Only one way to be sure... eat the entire jar on the plane on the way back!
