Season Three With Eko

Mr Light

Admiral
Admiral
What if Eko didn't meet an ignominious end early in S3? How would the season have progressed with him in the mix?

As I understand it the writers intended to have him around for a year and a half, so he would have died around 2/3 through S3.

Would Eko have gone with Locke on the expedition to rescue Jack, Kate, and Sawyer? Would Eko have defected along with Locke and joined the Others? Would Eko have seen Jacob?

What if his planned death was getting killed by Jacob in the cabin? That would have been a much more dramatic introduction for Jacob.

Just imagine... we never had a scene with Ben and Eko. Gravitas! ((oh wait they had one scene in S2 when we thought he was Henry. doesn't count!))

It doesn't count because a) I didn't remember when writing the initial post ;) , and b) Eko didn't really know who/what Ben was at the time he just suspected. Imagine how they would interact when Eko knew that he was the leader of the Others!

I would think personally that Eko would take a hardline stance against the "Others" and not join Locke. I think Eko would have been the "man of faith" for the Losties whereas Locke could have ended up the man of faith for the Others. However, the ascension of Ben as one of the crucial characters of Lost makes that fate a virtual impossibility.

Therefore, I'm not sure what place Eko could have had in the current mix without taking away from Locke's story or Ben's story.

He and Charlie probably would have kept building the church, but I don't know how he'd react to everything else. I'm not really sure how they would have fit him into the S3 storylines like going after Jack or Desmond's visions.
