Season Six preview - possible spoilers inside

I'm guessing that in the broadcast around the world for A Christmas Carol at the end is a preview of the up and coming season and it wasn't just shown here in the UK. Anyway, using the wonders of BBC iplayer HD and also photoshop, I've grabbed a dozen images from the preview and here they are:

I must admit, because of the way I saved and named the files and the lateness of the hour here, I haven't put them in order of when they appear in the trailer. The three most curious things in the preview are a bearded Matt Smith, could this be what the Star was referring to a few weeks ago; River on board what looks like the spaceship, possibly even a TARDIS from the Lodger and also the return of the Ood, the latter of which I was unimpressed to see as I wasn't a fan of Planet of the Ood and also their appearance in The End of Time.

Smith does look rather cool in a Stetson though and the voice over was pretty ominous which was funky as well.

I really wish the gunshot sound effect wasn't so blasted cartoonish when River shoots the stetson off the Doctor's head, but this otherwise looks very exciting.

Four thoughts:

#1 Are those Nazis, or am I not recognizing the uniform correctly?


#2 River, naked? Well, she does become the Doctor's wife. Yuuuuuummmy.

#3 The Doctor, unshaved and perhaps isolated for years and years? Is this an evil twin? Perhaps he is who River might have to kill?

#4 Fake Evil TARDIS, like from the lodger? Maybe fake evil Doctor's transport? Dream Lord/Valeyard commeth? See #3.

#1 Are those Nazis, or am I not recognizing the uniform correctly?

It's supposed to be a SS field uniform, judging from the collar.

#3 The Doctor, unshaved and perhaps isolated for years and years? Is this an evil twin? Perhaps he is who River might have to kill?

I've had the same thought, so it will probably be something totally different.

I didn't even notice the timeship from The Lodger in the trailer, so thanks for posting the stills. How many episodes will play in the US? Maybe it's just me but it felt as if a lot of the trailer scenes were from those episodes. Somehow, the prisoner scene also sceams USA at me.

Awww I wouldn't worry too much. when they make trailers they'll usually just throw any old sound effect in there.

You know, Matt Smith can make whatever he's wearing look so fashionable. Love that cowboy hat.

Really looking forward to the new season and I was reading today that BBC America is trying to work out a deal that allows the US to get the episodes the same night as the UK. That would be so awesome if that happened. Seems to me like the People at the BBC Are seeing this Doctor Who as the cash cow that it is and are actually get it about accessibility. Yeah it's all about money, but it's still a great thing that Doctor Who is becoming more accessible to fans all around the world in a timely matter.
