Thanks. Was it mentioned whether the error existed on the DVDs?
The stars error was newly created in TNG-HD. The original had a dark backdrop with no stars. The Timescape issue was replicated from the original version.
I've noticed a few new errors here and there throughout the show. Missing fade-ins (The Last Outpost, I, Borg), and even an incorrect effects shot. In Unnatural Selection, a 'dropping to impulse' shot was used when it should have been a warp shot.
In Redemption, the 'To Be Continued' is not over a freeze frame like it's supposed to be. The shot of Sela keeps going.

It could be dark if there was some sort of orbiting shield that simulated night. Otherwise it would never get dark.

Well, if you could simulate night, you could simulate stars too. 
Does anyone else feels this season extras were lackluster? They spend an inordinate amount of time on DS9, mostly with old interviews, and the other two parts are mostly aimless, showing alot of clips that have little to do with what is being said.
I did like Wendy Neuss talking about how the scoring was done, I just wish it had gone a little deeper on why such a muted sountrack was adopted (at least during middle to late TNG, the music got better after that, I think)

That part of the music was interesting. There clearly were people with no musical background dictating how music should be used. It's no wonder the trailblazer was fired, while the rest put their hands up and dialed it way back.
Whenever I think of post-1991 Trek TV music, all I can think of are the musical stingers before commercial breaks. That's generally the only time the music makes itself known. It's so muted and generic otherwise.

I disagree, but only just. While a lot of the music is rightly considered to be wallpaper-ish, I think there are notable exceptions. Just enough of them to buck the trend.
I pay alot of attention to scores, and while I do think there was a rough patch between season 4 and 7 of TNG, I believe things gradually improved, and by the time we reach Enterprise the scores were quite good.
But even before that.
All Good Things, The Search, The Way of the Warrior, Scorpion, Equinox, Siege of AR-558, Dark Frontier and many, many others had interesting scores, even if they didn't capture the epicness of Ron Jones'.
Yeah, Chattway and McCarthy mentioned in the music featurette that at some point Berman got less strict about the music and allowed the composers to stretch out more. I think this was in response to the criticism of GENERATIONS' score sounding too much like the TV show. Notice right after that he got Goldsmith to do the VOY theme and all the remaining TNG films.
The thing that always makes me think about the downfall of the scores in 'Berman Trek' is the DS9 Tribbles episode. Maybe it's just because I've got the equivalent TOS episode scenes to compare them to, but it just seems to me how the "MTMT" score lacks vitality. It almost sucks it from the show. Compare the music used the both versions of the bar-room fight scene, and the TOS one is just going at it 100%, really throwing it out there... but the DS9 score of the same scene feels somewhat more dialed back, more 'generic' (for want of a better word). If they can't push the boat out on an episode like that, when can they push the boat out?
