Season FOUR OFFICIAL TNG Blu-Ray Discussion Thread

I've noticed that some of the enterprise flybys at warp at little blurred ?? Anyone else noticed this ???

Many others have noticed, I think earlier in this thread. It's the 4-foot model shot, right?

Some are conjecturing a window light pass was recreated with CGI.

Is season 4 the first time we see the 4-foot model flyby or did we see it first in season 3? If CBSD already remastered that shot for season 3, why redo it with a CGI windows pass?

BTW, just got my copy and am spinning disc 1. I'm noticing that the LFE in this DTS track is much stronger than season 3. My windows are rattling.

I just picked up my set from Target, got the $10 deal and they were in great shape (minus the minor nick from removing the stupid ultra-violet sticker, ugh). I probably won't get a chance to watch until this weekend.

I was literally the first customer through the doors at my local Target this morning*, and I pretty much had to be to be sure I'd get these.

The store had only a couple copies of Season 4 and Redemption. I got both with the $10 off deal - and was able to get them before any security device damage, as I had called Monday and made the request of the store manager.

* Hey, at least I didn't camp out overnight... I only stood outside the door about 10 minutes before they opened. ;)

Mine was in a security device, but thankfully there wasn't damage. My local target had 2 copies of S4 and 3 copies of Redemption. I came in about 5 minutes after they opened.

Target was already sold out at 9:30. I drove over to Best Buy, and they had one copy of each.

Season 4 rang up as 69.99, but they matched it to Amazon's price.

I really should just go Amazon from now on. Retailers just don't care unless it's an A++ title.... like GI Joe Retaliation.

Same at my Target.

I came in 30 minutes after open.

I went to our local Target in Central Florida at 8 AM opening and was told they got zero copies of S4. They had 3 Redemption discs. After some back and forth, I agreed to drive to another store in another town that had a couple of copies. But I got them, and they're home safe and sound.

We watched "Family" today and it looked magnificent.

I remember running into the same lack of availability problem when I got season 2 at Best Buy. (Managed to get S3 and 4 at Target with the promo deals)

Is this not the big deal we think it is? A major restoration and enhancement of a significant, popular work, on bluray for the first time - the lack of stores having it available to buy makes it seem like it isn't. I of course would beg to differ.

Buying physical media just ain't easy anymore.

I watched BOBW2, Family and Brothers and the 4 foot flypast is blurry in both BOBW2 and Brothers. In fact the shot looks identical in both episodes. I'd wager that shot will look this way in all subsequent episodes as it is frequently used and was apparently problematic to remaster.

I went to Target 2 hours after it opened and they had 4 copies of season and 3 of Redemption. I was relieved. I was afraid they'd be out by then.

Well, get used to it now. That shot is in almost every episode going forward...

CBSD might've found a way to fix in time for season 5. This is however the same shot that they recreated in CGI at the start of The Inner Light on the sampler disc.
