I'm guessing a time-skip.Surprised to see Book again already, I thought we wouldn't be seeing him for a while.

Thanks,I was racking my brain...Holy shit. It's Ray #2!
Or just a change of pace. Which is what Star Trek does best.
That's fair. I treat each season as an episode so I have left concern with it. TOS can mix it up so doing it in Discovery is not bothersome to me.I like variety, but I tend to like it between episodes or between shows, not between seasons.
The median Trekkie demographic hasn't not given them any reason to be confident.ultimately I wish they had the confidence to build a better thought-out version of what they set out to do back then rather than trying to chase the median Trekkie demographic.
I think they know they're not going to get the "STD sucks!" demographic. Ironically, I think who they're really trying to win over are people in the middle like you. In political terms, they see you as a "swing voter".While I thought Seasons 3/4 were more consistent and slightly stronger than Seasons 1/2, ultimately I wish they had the confidence to build a better thought-out version of what they set out to do back then rather than trying to chase the median Trekkie demographic.
I'm not seeing any difference between Season 5 and Seasons 3-4 other than a different story. This trailer gave us the least information to work with. I like Season 4. It's my favorite season of DSC. That doesn't mean I want another story just like it.
Frankly, I think Picard has changed more in three seasons than Discovery did in five, and I say that as a fan of both shows. PIC went from "Serious sci-fi drama that's not TNG" to "We're going to do our own version of Back to the Future!" to "The Hell with it, this is TNG after all! Here's the final movie you never got!" It went from "No one's in Starfleet!" to "Some of us are in Starfleet!" to "Let's bring Starfleet back out in full force!"
Yes.and actually have choices from the earlier seasons have repercussions which are felt many seasons later?
Is it really that hard to do what DS9 did and actually have choices from the earlier seasons have repercussions which are felt many seasons later?
Probably just a result of filming in Canada. Throughout the 90s and 2000s, just count up how many actors end up in The X Files, Stargate and BSG.Crikey, was someone on this show a fan of "Impulse"? You got Shaun Doyle, Tara Rosling and now Callum Keith Rennie as actors. (It's just that it's filmed in Canadia probably but it's cool they're all getting gigs)
The premise of the season seems a lot like Raiders of the Lost Ark. I'll watch because I'm a Star Trek completist, but I'm least interested in this than any other new Trek.
We all know it's going to be.As long as the treasure isn't a threat to all life in the quadrant/galaxy/universe,
Surprised to see Book again already, I thought we wouldn't be seeing him for a while.
