I'm midway through watching this, but I have to say...
The Last Crusade - MUCH better than The Temple of Doom. In fact, this might be my favorite of the first three Indiana Jones movies. It's a return to form. I didn't know (or forgot) that Sean Connery was in this one. All kinds of double-crosses, twists, and a look into Indiana Jones' youth. The Search for the Holy Grail is something I've heard about in thumbnail descriptions for the fifth season of DSC, so I think some plot elements from this movie will work their way into Discovery as well.
I'm getting to the end of The Last Crusade. It is indeed my favorite of the first three.
I'm convinced now the elements of Indiana Jones that DSC will be borrow are going to be a combination of the first and third films. Some things jump out to me that I'll mention when the time comes.
As far as characters specific to The Last Crusade, this is what I'm guessing:
The Knight = The Romulan (they're from 700 and 800 years ago, respectively)
Walter = L'ak
Elsa = Moll
The Holy Grail is what I'm convinced will be the analogue for whatever they're looking for in DSC S5.
I wasn't going to, but I'll definitely watch the fourth and fifth movies. But for another time. After the credits roll on The Last Crusade, it's onto Bonnie and Clyde.
Bonnie and Clyde, like I've said, I have seen before. I had to watch it when I was in college. I liked the movie so much that I bought it on DVD a few years later. This was during a time when I had next-to-no money and couldn't afford much of anything. So, the fact that I chose that movie to buy says a lot. There's something about being able toss away the life you feel a prisoner to, and escaping from the people who are after you who want to do you in. But anyway...
After that, right before the season premiere, I'll be re-watching "Armageddon Game" (DS9) and "The Chase" (TNG). Then time it so I finish "The Case" shortly before "Red Directive" (DSC) is available.
EDITED TO ADD: Done re-watching Bonnie and Clyde. Still one of my Top 10 favorite movies ever made. I can't wait to see in what ways L'ak and Moll are similar to them and how, besides the obvious.
I’d get flamed to death pretty much anywhere else, but while SNW is definitely the more consistent show, Discovery is a far more interesting show and always has been.
I'm with you on this. SNW is actually my second least favourite of modern trek, with Prodigy being last. (I still enjoy both those, before I get flamed on it too).
Indeed, it is bad, even though it has the best title. Not sure it is quite as bad as Crystal Skull though.
Last Crusade is definitely my favourite. As a kid it was in my top 3 films along with Three Amigos and Who Framed Roger Rabbit (no particular order there).
Yeah, I'm going to watch them all. I expect a long-running film series to have its ups-and-downs. If The Temple of Doom is the worst, I can get through Crystal Skull. It sounds like Indiana Jones has the flip-side of the even-odd curse Star Trek movies had until Nemesis broke it.
Nice! Is it the lighting, am I imagining things, or did they change the uniform colors slightly? Specifically, the gold on Owosekun looks more like a delicate lemon yellow in these images as opposed to a warm buttercup yellow. In any case, it looks nice.
EDIT: Looking at images from season four, it looks pretty similar there as well, so I guess it’s just the cold lighting from the console making it look less saturated.
