I love ST 09 but I think there are several episodes in Season 3 I find much better.Star Trek 09 was downright Shakespearean compared to most of TOS Season 3.
But, it's not a competition. I like TOS and ST 09 equally.

I love season 3 and disagree with the notion it is worse than the other seasons.
But then I far prefer an outing like Wink of an Eye to The Trouble With Tribbles so I admittedly understand I have different things I’m looking for than a lot of folks.
Still I think overall it’s like any season of any of the series- it has some greats, some interesting thoughts, some funny stuff and then a few that are just too goofy,

I think there's a melancholy about Season 3 with certain musical cues(everyone knows which one I'm talking about).
