Spoilers Season 3 Episode 9 'Terra Firma pt 1' promo

Yeah timey wimey shenanigans was what i was thinking. I like Saru as captain but i really liked prime georgiou as well so i'm torn.

There might be a dearth of Captains. Prime Georgiou wouldn't have to be the Discovery's captain if she somehow returned.

Plus, if Mirror Georgiou saved the prime version, it doesn't mean she has to die. Mirror Georgiou would beat the crap out of those Klingons and pick her teeth with a bat'leth.

Mike McMahan writes some pretty fucking good Star Trek.
Lower Decks is okay, but I like Discovery and Picard better. I think Michael Chabon -- the example I would've used -- pulled a rabbit out of the hat by finding a way to make Picard feel like a follow-up to TNG but not a revival.

That was a tough needle to thread and I have to give him, the rest of the writers, and Patrick Stewart credit for it.

It happens around :20. She says "Our future is kjasd;flksadjfklsda prison."

I can't hear that one word

Or just send her back and quietly cancel her show because both S31 and the mirror universe should have been left where they were and not done to death by subsequent shows and JJTreks

100% agree that we didn't need more mirror universe or Section 31.

The Mirror Universe was flawed from the beginning in TOS. How exactly does a society survive when people are constantly killing each other for advancement? They can steal technology, they can use slave labour to build their ships, but how does the species survive?

I have a problem fitting Section 31 being willing to do whatever it takes into a Federation mindset about talking out your problems and respecting each other. I get having intelligence agents being around to keep tabs on less than friendly peoples, but DS9's Section 31 had them poisoning people and all of their appearances have been shadowy. It just seems to be the exact opposite of what the Federation is.

I have been saying I'd rather have Georgiou actually having some character development and having the values of this universe rubbing off on her and having her begin to regret some things she did as Empress.

That being said, I can live with the technobabble atoms explanation if you also give me a scene where she says "the people of my universe would have let me die" or "relished in letting me die" and having some kind of moment where the crew being willing to help her effecting some kind of change in her and starting to make her a little less mirror universe-y.

“Before Georgiou, Yor was the only individual known to have traveled across both time and dimensions.”

Didn’t Discovery do this on return from the mirror universe in S1? They travelled forward almost 6 months if I recall correctly? :shifty:

Classified.

Also, Discovery returned to their home reality, and Georgiou and Yor (presumably at this point) did not.

But no one knows about that. And it was only a small time hop of a few months.

I don't think only jumping nine months ahead is really in the spirit of "jumping to another time". Technically, yes. But not really.

Nine months versus 11,172 months (930 years plus One) is quite a gigantic difference. So I'm assuming the affects (or lack of affect) would be reflected in that.

They returned to their own universe, so from a physiological perspective, they ceased to have their atoms pulled to the "west" and replaced it with a 6 month pull to the "south". Only getting pulled both directions at once is harmful (and the magnitude of the trip probably matters, Georgiou's 1000 years is way worse than Spock's 130 years.)
