Can't wait for this one. By the looks of it, the crew are going to be tested to make sure they are capable of serving in 32nd century Starfleet.

The new Starfleet uniforms look amazing and Oded Fehr is a silver daddy.

Doesn't look like Federation HQ is on Qo'noS or New Romulus or anything unexpected. Unless Admiral Oded Fehr is what our new Klingons look like.

looks like the founders made it to the 32nd century

and more surprisingly the Kazon

That’s probably just the FX artists copying the maps from star charts again without making modifications (the Founder ‘Homeworld (First)’ gives it away) I really wouldn’t take it as fact unless it comes up in dialogue.

Maps in season 1 had planets that 23rd century federation shouldn’t know about and also mentions the Enterprise-A’s path in Final Frontier I believe? Might be Undiscovered County. Either way the Enterprise thing was lifted right from Star Charts without a care.

After some digging it is David Cronenberg famed Toronto native and horror director of 80s films like The Fly and Dead Ringers............
"SCANNERS" (1981) is the first movie I think of when his name is mentioned.
But that's mainly because it's the first one of his that I went and saw at a theater.
:techman:

OOOoooooo ... perhaps he's the head of the 32nd Century's version of "Section-31".
(he is kinda-sorta "EVIL" looking)
Can't you just see him wanting to get his hands on Zora once he finds out about her.
And of course Georgieu is right there talking to him.

It's like both Star franchises are putting in random background text without thinking through the implications.

Over at Star Wars' the Mandalorian, characters were shown watching a news holo about the destruction of the Empire and the death of the Emperor. Fans translated the news holo's headline from Star Wars' fictional alphabet of Aurebesh and apparently it said: "Little does Luke know that the GALACTIC EMPIRE has secretly begun construction on a new armored space station even more powerful than the first dreaded Death Star." ( https://screenrant.com/mandalorian-season-2-death-star-return-jedi-crawl/ )

This was obviously just pulled from Return of the Jedi's opening crawl. For this to be an in-universe news headline after the Empire was already destroyed makes absolutely no sense.

But it is really neat that They did that.

This IS supposed to be ENTERTAINING after all.

Hunting for Easter Eggs is at least as much fun for us as it is for the producers to put them in.

That's probably just an injoke.

Its difficult to make a prediction from the trailer... but I have a (background) suspicion that its not SF/Federation HQ they found.
Could be an alien or someone else who is trying to lure unsuspecting Federation ships.
Senna Tal may have been given these coordinates by someone else without him knowing it was a potential trap... but, given what we already know from other trailers and how Burnham even mentioned in the trailer for Season 3 'the Federation gave me a mission...' its quite possible/likely it may be they found SF/Federation HQ.

As for the crew being tested... well, sure. SF/Federation would need to establish trust and verify the voracity of Disco's claims (to ensure they are who they say they are)... its quite possible they suspect The Burn was targeted at the Federation specifically - but I can think of non-violent ways to test the crew of Discovery to ensure they are being honest ... those mind scanners which ensured that Spock was being honest with the Admiral when she questioned him on whether or not he killed SF medical personnel would come in hand... I suspect that by the 32nd century SF would have the means to simply scan the ship and ascertain whether they are who they say they are without resorting to any kind of 'tests'.

Wouldn't it be great if the Federation HQ/Starfleet was in a Dyson Sphere concealed by a nebula or a Yorktown style starbase (but obviously far more [32nd century] advanced) capable of moving via different method of FTL which was invented just before the burn and was in experimental stage when Dilithium went kaboom?

That would be interesting if this isn’t actually the Federation. But I don’t put too much stock in that being the case, unless it is the Federation, but by the end of the episode it’s revealed that the Feds are now the bad guys.
