Trying to squint at that combadge, doesn't look like the oversized delta of the Confed badge we've seen.
But with this episode meant to be taking place in Picard's head, maybe he's a dream/imaginary/memory? Though the uniform does look like the Confederation uniforms...

I wonder if James Callis is playing a temporal cop from "our" timeline. He is wearing what looks like a standard starfleet uniform.

A few weeks ago I saw a site (don't remember which - if it was a clickbait one or something like Trekcore) speculate that he might be the villain in season 3. I think this was just based on info that Callis' stunt double would be in 2.7.
I agree, Callis has to be a flashback to one of his darkest secrets, separate from darkest fears / which is the childhood monster stuff (maybe related?). The other photo looks like it’s on a spaceship, maybe a shuttlecraft? There are twinkling stars on the doors suggesting they may be translucent / look out onto space.
The “secret” goes back to ep 2 when Q basically said, “Picard you know exactly what I mean” just before he snaps his fingers and leaves him alone in the trophy room, and we see Picard’s facial expression acknowledging an embarrassing (?) secret, the thing Picard has to atone for. Episode 9 seems to involve this secret again. Does this have to do with the original stargazer maybe? Or why everyone is constantly saying “look up”?
I hope more happens in 2.7 than is implied by the blurbs. The last few episodes have been short and slow so I'm looking for more plot movement. It looks like Raffi/Seven may not even find Jurati until 2.8! Also looks like Jay Karnes will be in 2.8 in that horrible interrogation room set (blurb says its FBI custody).
This must be the episode with that sequence of Borg soldiers training weapons on the crew.

I’m trying, but they’re not making this easy for me, what with apparently leaving Jean-Luc’s shirt wide open for the upcoming mind meld scene as well. I’m very glad his golem body got to keep all the chest hair.
I know, I know, I have strange priorities (I’m not really much of a Trekkie and pretty much here for Jean-Luc, maybe this is an excuse as to why I’m not exactly too focused on the overall plot), but I just think Jean-Luc is ridiculously attractive in all possible ways
