Season 2 Teaser

Awkward elevator conversations, I get. But I'm pretty sure I don't remember ever having been sneezed on in an enclosed space, so maybe I can't relate. Regardless, it's juvenile gross-out humor, and and I just don't find it funny, and never have. Obviously YMMV, but that kind of thing is actually what I like least about The Orville.
You must really hate the Three Stooges.
:wtf:

Wow, trailer looks fantastic. Looks more and more like DSC, like all of the other spins, with the exception of Ent, will take a big leap forward in terms of overall quality, in season 2. We should keep in mind that this is just a trailer, and what we see here is basically still the vision of the show as presented by the previous regime.

Loved the moments between Owesekun and Detmer. Pike's traditional uniform looked just great.

We may not see Disco's permanent captain until the end of the season.

Really stoked about the new season. The "female future" is not looking too bad.
I do wonder if they took some of the criticism of Discovery/praise of The Orville to heart. It seemed a lot less dour than season one.
So now the question is; will The Orville take a much needed page from season 1 DSC and present some credible drama. The Seinfeld and Compton jokes, not to mention the dick jokes, always undercut even the lightweight drama the show was aiming for. The sneeze on the elevator joke in the Disco trailer was definitely Orville level humor and I hope we don't see much more of it on DSC.

Do you need Sherpas to help you take on these molehills or do you just free climb it?

Admittedly, my comment reads more dramatically than I really intended. But I'll stand by it. That sort of humor is the stuff of bad kids' movies, not something I'd expect from what is being billed as a more "adult" take on Star Trek.

You can’t cover your nose or sneeze into your elbow? Or make some attempt to do so? Or apologize afterward? Hopefully there is more to that scene, because what’s in the trailer is indefensible.
I've worked in a hospital for over 40 years.
Believe me when I tell you that there are A LOT of folks out there who don't cover their mouth when they cough or deflect a sneeze away from others!!!
And they very rarely apologize afterward.
:ack:

I meant a new regular character, but yes, you're right Scott was a series lead before.

Talented actor. Miscast as Archer, but great on Quantum Leap.
Yep (still one of the most shocking series finales of all time)

Archer's gazelles is like theTBBS's own version of Godwin.
We have a few of those :)
The reason we never actually get to Hitler is that mods close anything before it gets that close. But I bet TNZ is wide open to that (haven't been there in years, so can't confirm)

I suppose we should be understanding of the producers' attempt to refresh Star Trek for the next generation, by marshaling the hot sounds of 1998. (For Abrams, it was all about 1994.)

Coming soon: a more introspective teaser reel set to the moody tones of Alanis Morissette...

Does anyone have an idea what's happening here? I think it links with Tilly's "This is the power of math, people." moment. Maybe they managed to create a better force-field/containment device

while being breached by a huge asteroid? It does look like a rocky ceiling is what everyone is looking up at, while in awe.

For some reason this reminds me of the ending to "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" which might explain the pop music. Perhaps they are playing Lenny Kravitiz music to try and get attention to the lifeforms inside the red stuff.

i don't get it , why would pike leave the enterprise to command another ship , when he could use the enterprise to do this mission. And don't say discovery is more advanced ,as they don't know what to expect, whole idea of exploring space .

Jellico left the Cairo to command another ship because he was the better officer for the job. Maybe it’s less to do with the ship and more the officer.

I found The Orville to be far more credible drama than what Discovery season one gave us. So I'm hoping they stay the course. Predictably dreary is not credibly dramatic.
I think both trailers have the sneezing joke in them. Granted Orville doesn't play on it for so long but once both episodes land maybe we can finally compare the two back to back and settle this once and for all.
