Season 2 and Beyond (not the movie) Wishlist.

Agreed...and that was a terrible, poorly edited episode. It was so obvious while watching it.

I have no idea why they don't go longer on the streaming services and BR versions, and make a broadcast edit that fits for time. Seems awfully lazy.
It doesn’t have to “fit for time”. Space would just extend the broadcast (they do it for Doctor Who).

Drop their silly pretense that it's the same world as TOS, even though nothing looks, sounds, acts or feels anything like it.
Neither did TMP and afterwards, we survived that and have come to accept it, so will we this time... acceptance time is different for everyone though

I mean, we know for a fact that the Pahvo episode was apparently heavily cut. This is why the stuff with Cornwell and L'Rell makes little sense - lots of dialogue between the two characters was shot, but never made it to the screen.

News to me!

Another item in my wish list is for the writers to continue to fill this series with twists and turns. I don't want to know how we get to what comes later until the very end.

What I hope is that people actually give Season 2 a chance to unfold without jumping to conclusions first. I was just listening to a podcast for something else (not Discovery) and these people were ripping into what they were talking about because they don't know where it's going but then, because they didn't, used that as an excuse to basically say "Because I don't understand it, I don't see the point, so I'm going to complain!" One fed into the other, fed into the other, fed into the other. It was like you could call it The Anatomy of a Basher. So I had to turn that podcast off.

People are going to have to accept that the first episode will present whatever the status quo for the season is going to be and we're just not going to get all the answers right up front. There's no instant gratification and because it's unfolding, it's not like something we've seen before where we know how it ends. The guessing game is part of it. The wondering is part of it.

 You're hired!

I want family back and to do that the crew needs some stability. We need an ongoing Captain. One who, if not the lead, is a reference point. Someone to look up to would be nice, someone who has your back. It concerns me a little that Pike may be temporary. Much of what has made Trek resonate is familiarity with character and bonds. It's not going to make itself and it's not going to develop if characters are killed off without emotional investment in them been given a chance.

Given much of the direction is literally initiated from the bridge that set could do with more light. I also agree with @CaptainMurdock why not give distinction with uniform colours? That is not a call back I would object to, it feels Star Trek.

I would like a catchphrase or even a user friendly 'one off' special to Discovery and sorry, an F-Bomb doesn't cut it. Something to latch onto, like "Beam me up" "Engage, Number One" "There's coffee in that Nebula".

My only request is to try to work in more stand alone episodes. They can plan an 8 story arc and use the remaining 5 episodes to explore. They can always use the b plot to move the main arc ahead in those weeks, just bring some classic style episodes. Or make one of the new series they have in the works structured more like that.
