Perhaps, but one poster made a good point. These forums are full of spoilers, especially in TNG. For example- the first page of TNG forum contains threads about five episodes from latter seasons.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
Didn't your mother ever teach you that?

The thread titles don't always warn you about references to episodes in latter seasons. I even see posters make references to a episode later in a series' run in the Misc forum.
To expect one avoiding discussing or asking questions about a TNG (or any other series) episode late in the series' run out of respect for new viewers would render the forum poinless. The forum is here for fans to discuss. There are many topics that many long time posters discuss over and over (there are episodes from all shows (same goes for certain movies) that has been analyzed to death, and posters keep on starting threads when they know or have read earlier threads on the same topic/episode/issue). Some posters like to make a top 5 or 10 episode lists (favorites, worse, best, most wtf moment, etc, etc) which would give away the plots of certain episodes. The forums usually have a couple at any given time. Characters are often analyzed and discussed in threads that would give away the plot of an episode (or more). It would be tough for a new viewer to browse the TNG forum without finding a spoiler.
Even the caption it contest threads can give away the episode (whether if it's for the episode the screenshot was from or from a different episode. About a half of them will give away a certain scene from the second TNG episode....
