News Season 1 DVD/Blu-Ray Release

Unfortunately there are precedents of splited season releases of Nick TV shows on DVD/Blu-ray. Sometimes even splited in 4 parts.

A request as soon as someone receives the Blu-ray box: Can you check if german audio track is included? It is not mentioned on the back cover but that does not say much. German audio is mentioned at amazon since the blu-ray is listed there and blu-ray.com added german DD 5.1 to the product description just recently.

Thank you very much in advance!

Episode 10 was aired on Paramount+ back in February of this year, so it hasn't even been a year yet and They are already releasing the DVD's in less than two weeks. (Jan 3rd)
If we go by the Nick air date, it has only been 5 months.

That alone should be a big indicator that Nick isn't the one deciding when to release the DVD's.
That's pretty much exactly the schedule of Nick's TMNT2012 DVDs. Volume 1 was in shops five months after the episodes aired. But it had just the first six episodes. And they continued to release volumes at that pace for the entire run of the show.

Nick clearly have some power over the show, their name is permanently branded onto it within the show itself.

Regardless, I'm just glad Prodigy is getting a Blu-ray release. TMNT is still stuck on DVD only.

No tv? What does all your furniture Point to then?
I live in a small prison like box, though I try to keep it all 风水, a little bit like this:

I just watch ‘stuff’ on my iPhone from anywhere. It has a big screen. :D

Now, if someone could invent a Blueray or DVD player that could plug in to a phone….

I'd love to know if a full S1 blu-ray set will be coming out, but the eps 1-10 set is at most the same price as any other Star Trek blu-ray season set at the moment.

I have a couple Doctor Who series' in two parts, and those are only 6 eps per set. So it's not unprecedented that I'd but split seasons.

@Timofnine no computer with a DVD or BD drive?

German audio track is included according to the Trekcore review: https://blog.trekcore.com/2023/01/blu-ray-review-star-trek-prodigy-season-1-volume-1/

"the Prodigy Blu-ray set does include English, Germany, Latin American Spanish, and French dialogue tracks (and associated closed captions)"

It also would be a regio-free disc.

Nope, not even a computer/laptop or games console. I have Googled for a method to connect a blue ray or DVD player to my phone, but so far no luck. I can’t even find one on Amazon.

Most google hits seem to indicate the DVD player needs to output in a format the cellphone can use (mp4 among others). Though there are some indication of software that can copy DVD files over and convert them to something usable.

It doesn't seem that a phone can do anything with a direct video signal the way a TV or monitor can. I could be possible, if both devices are Bluetooth capable, that something could be done that way.

They do make portable DVD players. With screens.
Yes, and those come with their own screen (the equivalent blu-ray players also).

Buying a cheap laptop and a portable DVD or Blu-ray drive would also do the trick.I think Leawo has a free software-based blu-ray player (software, needed to use the portable drive connected to the laptop) for Windows.

Having just watched the first episode on bluray, I’ve got to say this: I don’t recall the show ever looking this good before.

The visuals are absolutely stunning.

I also doubt that, animation is difficult (expensive) enough to do in full hd. A bluray will be plenty, I just hope it will reach europe (other than through individual import from the us).

Yeah, I got impatient with this, and just decided to import it in. Frustrating that it’s only half the season, but hey ho.

First ten hit disc 11 months after original airing. So I wouldn't expect it any earlier than November.

Or at the very least, when they announce a premiere date for season 2, the remainder of season 1 will likely be released within proximity to that. Remember, the first half of season 1 was originally planned for a fall 2022 release date, likely to coincide with the premiere of the second half before getting postponed to January.

Any word on the blu ray release of eps 11-20 or the full season in one package..? Seems quiet….

IMO, either sales of the first half remain brisk and there is no desire to interrupt while the strategy to split the season is working, or they are in a waiting game with buyers who are holding out for the whole package. A who will blink first, kind of a standoff.

I blinked and bought the first half set. lol

They haven't even released episodes 11-20 for streaming here, let alone on Blu-ray. It's doubtful if we are getting them any time soon.

I got mine for around $15. I know for this show season 1 is technically 20 episodes, but that's just a legal fiction for contracts and 40 episodes likely being ordered in one go. STLD already had a manufacture on demand release for its third season. If this one doesn't sell well, it could likewise be relegated to MOD, have a DVD-only release, or nothing at all. And a Star Trek property is one of the last things Paramount would license out. That said, Paramount home video has been playing the game of chicken with Star Trek fans for decades, so YMMV. They could easily release this one, sit on it till the series is complete, and then release a complete set in 2026, leaving you with duplicates.

Meanwhile, check out the special features if you do get this release. There's a clip where Alex Kurtzman says he wants to indoctrinate children with specific values. Surprised the usual YouTube channels haven't picked up on that one :D
