Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

Tom Hardy's resemblance to Patrick Stewart, or lack of it, was by far the least of Nemesis's problems.
I guess at this point I've seen so many characters getting recast with people who don't look much like the previous actor that I'm willing to just go with it.

Let's be honest here. We don't know until we see the final product. I get that speculation is part of the BBS and the like, but honestly-it sounds more like wishing to fail and finding reasons to criticize the product before it even hits the screen.

It's one thing to critique the marketing handling. I don't necessarily worry about it, but since I see constant posts around the Interwebz wondering when the trailer will drop, its clearly on people's minds. And BTS drama is certainly driving the gossip chains.

But, at the end, the product will speak for itself.
You're right that the proof will be in the proverbial pudding. But until the pudding is served, one has to wonder about the abundance of chefs going in and out of in the kitchen, the proclamations about the conditions of the ingredients ... and the lack (as yet) of an enticingly flavorful aroma.

(For the record, I'm going to try the pudding once it's served, and am hoping to find that it's delicious.)

;)

Are you the type of guy that gets suspicious?
No. I have no reason to be because I cannot control it. Suspicion, especially over a film, seems to me like worrying over whether or not the chef is doing everything perfectly at a restaurant. It might impact me, but likely, it probably won't.

So not only did Ron Howard reshoot about 80% of the Phil Lord and Chris Miller directed scenes, now he’s reshooting the rest 20%? Almost four months before the movie’s release?

Anthony Ingruber not only looks like a twentysomething Ford but sounds like him and can act. He could have pulled it off.

Sadly we'll never know.

Perhaps we’ll get lucky and Disney casts Anthony Ingruber as Indiana Jones in a few years.

Not worried. It happens.
Worried? Who, me?

For those that are interested, here's what Lucas's thoughts were on Solo's background. Note: these ideas were dictated (more or less off the cuff) as a guide for the licencing people back in '77, a little while after ANH was released and the merchandising started to really kick into high gear. There's also a bunch of stuff about most of the main characters, the Empire and the Force (and yes, Midi-chlorians are mentioned too!)

I'm sure this is not 100% what they're going to go with for the movie (these were just initial thoughts after all and I'm sure Lucas may have refined some of it over the years), but it's a safe bet at least the spirit of it will be intact.
One addition I suspect they'll be adding based upon some of the tie-in media from TFA, and some of the recent on-set photos is a stint as an illegal landspeeder street racer or some such. A little nod to 'American Graffiti' if nothing else.

Still, you can see a lot of elements that ended up in the old EU and some that the EU ignored and made up something else. (I certainly don't miss him being an Imperial officer or the whole bit about being from a disgraced noble family, complete with evil uncle!) Also interesting how this seems to line up quite well with Han's planned, but ultimately not executed cameo in RotS.

One thing that jumps out at me with this is that you can totally see why he so quickly took a shine to Rey. They have very similar backgrounds.

For his sake I hope not. The last thing any actor needs is to be labelled as "that guy that does young Harrison Ford". Normal every day typecasting is limiting enough, but that's one very tiny little pigeon hole to be stuck in. After all, one assumes he became an actor to be an actor, not a celebrity impersonator.

Anything that triggers and annoys the worst of the Prequel haters and trolls is fine by me. The more references like that the better and the more amusement I derive.

I regret to inform you that any mention of midichlorians in a document from the 1970s was retroactively added many years after the fact.

To quote J.W. Rinzler: Please note: While we were preparing the text for The Making of Star Wars, Lucas added a note to this passage about midi-chlorians, bringing his original words in line with his later thoughts and the events of the prequel trilogy.

(The relevant blog entry on the OS seems to have been taken down but it could be archived somewhere.)

It's kind of shady that the book was released that way...

Off topic but so long as we're here: Also note that at that time, Lucas did suggest that there could be other surviving Jedi out there. It's just that the audience wouldn't necessarily be aware of any of them. Though of course this was before (or maybe just as) Yoda was conceived.

They became known as the Blue Wizards...oops, wrong franchise.

Also, in Legends EU a lot of Jedi seemed to come out o the woodwork.

Yeah, Order 66 didn't seem too effective in Legends. Basically, any Jedi not shown killed in ROTS seemed to have survived. Have their been any others in Disney Canon other than Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Kanan?
