Beautiful renders!

Thank you. :)

I have to admit: I clicked in here and then got distracted (by work - how dare they? ;) ), and when I came back, I had lost track of where I was on the board. So I initially thought that was just a nice photo of someone's rank pin collection. VERY nice render. :)

Yeah between you and Madman...I am awestruck with 3d printed stuff...totally blown away!

In all seriousness, this really was a quick and dirty modeling session and I would have been much more accurate about it if I'd given myself more time, but thank you for your kind comments.

None of the pins I've posted the last few days are physical in any way. They're digital models rendered in VRay Next (the latest version of that renderer) using Substance materials and modeled in 3ds Max.

I'll be dropping a bunch more 3d printing models on Thingiverse in the next few days, including rounding out my TWOK pin collection. I do need to modify most of the ones I have up right now as they're far too thin.

I hope to print my versions of the TWOK pins on my Wanhao D7 LCD printer and cast them (or have them cast) in real metals, but that, so far, has been a pipe dream, as has been my fantasy of completing a real TWOK Monster Maroon.

For anyone that would like to download the above Mirror Enterprise pins, they're up on Thingiverse, as mentioned:

Ha! Well, as you can see, I took some liberties with the "materials" and used something more like real metal rather than silver paint, as on the costume pieces.

I look forward to your update!

Thank you very much for the praise. I can't tell you how well-timed it is at this moment. The tunnel ahead looked pretty dark and dreary.

@gazomg, I need to say, if those are just cutouts on your page, they look great! The lower-right pin, whatever it is, the image you've found of it shows a lot more detail than the image I had to work from, so thank you. I'll be refining mine based on the image you posted.

That latest "photo" of your TWOK rank insignia is just stunning! I got so carried away that I accidentally un-liked it in my effort to REALLY like it (I have re-liked it now :) )

I have no idea how many people follow this thread anymore, but for those that do and also use 3ds Max, I highly suggest purchasing RappaTools. You can find it on ScriptSpot or do a Google search.

Well worth the price of admission.

Oh, and you get free lifetime updates.

RapidTools is also a great script, and amazingly it's free!

Anyway, it's amazing what details you can catch viewing an image in 4k rather than 1080. No, there's no 4k scan of TMP, but my card does a decent enough job at upscaling for me.

What is RapidTools, exactly?
