To be honest, the whole deconstructing the horror film angle felt trite, obvious and contrived to me before the first movie was even over, especially since it is ground Craven has trodden before.

The second was more of the same, I didn't bother with the 3rd and probably won't bother with this.

Scream 3 was probably my favorite...but not because it was technically better than the original or Scream 2...just like seeing Jenny McCarthy & Parker Posey in it. And the original was better than 2...but I didn't have any problems with 2...I enjoyed all 3. I am hoping this 4th one will be as entertaining.

Scream 3 is the weakest out of the original trilogy to me. It's notable for Parker Posey's role and for a cameo from Jay and Silent Bob :)

agreed. i always felt it was pretty contrived with the half brother and what not. and killing off Cotton was a mistake.

A lot has of that has to do with switching writers. Studios seem to have the mentality of "this movie is coming out at this date no matter what" and if they lose talented people along the way, they simply replace them with less talented people just so the job can be done when they want it done.

Yep. Kevin Williamson should have stuck with the third one. I forgot why he departed the franchise. I'm glad he's back. His involvement with Four is one of the reasons why I'm so excited.

I love the trilogy the first one is my fav . have'nt seen the new one is it worth it ?
and will there be another one after this one ?

Of course you haven't seen "Scream 4" yet. It comes out on Friday...and yes if this one does will it's sets the stage for another trilogy.

very cool review I like this franchise so much better than final destination . did not like those movies sorry . can't wait to this weekend . now was'nt courtney cox killed in the third movie?

okay cool I like her all ways will . ever since misfits of science .

well if anyone is interested TBS is playing scream 1 & 2 and tmc will be playing part 3 tonight .

^ If you've seen the trilogy then why would you think that Gayle Weathers had been killed? The trailer for the movie clearly shows Gayle in it.

well it's been awhile and I forgot okay. any way going to do a rewatch this week before seeing part 4.

When it was time to start working on Scream 3, Williamson was already tied up with Dawson's Creek, Teaching Mrs. Tingle and developing Glory Days, and he couldn't devote the time to writing the script, so he went to Craven, gave him his notes and a treatment, and said, "Good luck." For what it's worth, Williamson's outline had the whole Stab 3 / killer is Sidney's brother plot, but it was actually set in Woodsboro.

I'm glad to see a positive review of the movie; when Williamson left the project and Ehren Kruger came in to do rewrites, I got pretty nervous.

^ It pretty much is frankly with the new, young cast. I love what they've done. It was the only thing they could have done. I can see Gayle, Dewy, and Syd being phased out of the franchise in this one paving the way for the new core of characters in this one.
