Scout/Research vessel - Long time no see!

Hey everyone! Long time, no see. As it does, life gets away from you, so I haven't been around for a while, but decided to pop back into Blender and work on a new ship. She's kind of a scout/research vessel in the vein of the Oberth class. Not quite the same, but in that vein.

Obviously, she's still missing some parts ;) but I figured I'd post the updates here!

Hope everyone is doing well! Would love to hear your feedback.

Wow, I love the attention to detail here. When you see the smaller pictures you notice a very clean model, a basic design that doesn't jump out or anything and you think, yeah that looks good.

Then you click to see the original size and my mind is blown by just how how crisp all the lines are, how smooth the model is. The windows and escapepodshatches look stunning, the bridge module is spectacular, the aft section as a whole is just a feast to look at! I can't wait to see the nacelles.
What era we talking about here?

This is looking great! So many lovely little details already - including, if I'm not mistaken, those two window/vent squares at the rear of the saucer similar to those found on the Galaxy-class. I'm looking forward to seeing more :bolian:

(I can't really tell from these angles, but wouldn't the view from the bridge window/screen include quite a sizeable amount of the saucer's inner-sloping hull?)

Thanks so much! This ship is somewhere in the TNG era area. Maybe just a bit before or just a bit after. Not sure yet.

Well, that’s certainly one way to make a splashy re-entry!

I echo the earlier comments about the exquisite detail. I hope that you don’t go too much further in that direction— perhaps scribing some grid lines or hull plating, but the macro-sized details look just right to my eye right now. Welcome back!

Nah I'm not one to over-detail my models. If anything I'll add a bit more plating and such via texture when I get to that point. (guess i'll have to learn how to texture in Blender :rommie:.

As for today's update, the Nacelle caps are coming along.

Oh my, that's not what I expected in terms of nacelles but they are stunning!!

Thanks! Curious what you were imagining!

Well, when you said maybe a tad before TNG, I was imaging something more along the lines of a Ambassador going into Galaxy type, clean in design but your signature 'let's detail the fuck out of it when you get closer' thing going on, you know? But this..... damn.....

Yeah I decided to go for more of something of a transitional fossil between the art-deco style TOS movie era nacelles with no glow, and the VERY glowy red and blue TNG era nacelles. But since I cant seem to do anything without my own spin on it, I threw in a dash of DSC and Kelvin timeline design elements too.

It works amazingly well.
