Good day everyone.
In addition to the Heavy Cruiser that I've been building, I used the nacelles and primary hull to build up a model of the Scout and Destroyer Class. Though in my head I see them as more of a Corvette Class (After the Flower Class Corvette) and a Frigate Class ( After the Tribal Class Destroyer) The Frigate is an intermediate step to the Heavy Cruiser.
The Heavy Cruiser ( The Constellation, Enterprise, Hood, Yorktown. etc.) are the flagships. They are the first contact, push the boundaries, show off the Federation ship. The Corvette and Frigate are the every day patrol ship. Keeping the routine and patrolling the space lanes; like a Coast Guard, Space Guard or System Patrol I guess.
And so for your consideration:
The Corvette (Scout) Class
And the Frigate (Destroyer) Class
The Frigate is outfitted with a Shuttle Bay able to house three Galileo Class Shuttles for orbital, surface and ship to ship operations.
I did away with the Sensor Dish on stick because one: I don't really like it. and two the crew requirements should not be as great as the Constellation Class and the space around the rim of the saucer is used to house the Deflector / Sensor equipment instead. Maybe allowing them to operate in thin atmospheres and or light gravity worlds.
