Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

Think he's great. And I'm really starting to wonder what it is with fanboys and their pathological hatred of anything alien that is small and vaguely cute. I suppose if Keener was a hulking brute who snapped people's necks and carried a giant pulse phaser cannon, he would be "badass" and therefore acceptable.

I admit it... I bristle whenever I encounter something in a movie that was placed there to make me go "awwwwwww..."

Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

Scotty WAS kind of teddy bear-ish on TOS and in the movies. Especially after he gained weight. Doohan was squeezable even if you're a straight male.

Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

The poll is almost evenly divided. I rarely see this in BBS Trek polls.

7-7-6-7.

A quarter apiece.

Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

The little alien was there for comic relief, it didn't even have any lines.

Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

I like his little redshirt at the end of the movie when he's perched on the engineering conduits/shelf. Like something you'd dress a poodle in.

Re: Scotty's Ewok thingie

Still, a better sidekick than Martin Lawrence in the BAD BOYS movies.

I didn't find anything vaguely cute about Scotty's Ewok. It did kinda look like a little Jem Hadar lol

Sure it did. It said "Me," which elicited Scotty's bean tirade. It also whined a little when Scotty and Kirk beamed out.

He must have evolved on a very light-deprived world. Pale, grey scales/skin. Dark obsidian eyes. His planet must be somewhere VERY dark.

Having lightish colored skin suggests being from a planet with an abundance of light, not a lack of it.

I didn't find anything vaguely cute about Scotty's Ewok buddy. It did kinda look like a little Jem Hadar lol

Actually, Deep Roy did have a Star Wars role-although not an Ewok, he was Droopy McCool, one of Jabba's band. The big kind of fat yellow monster with no eyes and the flute.

He also had a memorable role in Doctor Who (classic series) as a sinister puppet called Mr.Sin, (He also had a minor role in the Trial of a Time Lord storyarc) making him one of the few actors to be in both franchises. Interestingly Pegg also is one of those (He played a villain in the Eccleston season).

For some reason, if the sequel turns out to be darker, I can see Keenser going the way of Cadet Preston from TWOK.

This thing is the one thing I didn't like about this movie...get rid of him. Scotty doesn't need a sidekick...
