Scotland to leave the UK?

The British: nobly serving the greater good for over 300 years by nicking your stuff. (and not giving it back)

We stole that stuff legitimately!!

You have no idea what cultural treasures and sacred artifacts can do if just left there; that's why the British nobly stuffed it all in boxes and put it in the cellars of Buckingham Palace. It was a great burden, but we bore it well.

UK...
The land they call UK...

They robbed from the poor and kept it for themselves
They took all your stuff and put it on their shelves
Our love for them now ain't hard to explain
The hero of the world
The land they call UK

Indeed. Although some of it is in the British museum where the public can bask in the skill of our ancestors in the art of thief. (or empire building as we like to call it).

So we're the milliwall of the world?

The old lion of Earth, a living tourist park, come and see the United Kingdom! open five days a week!

Mmm, because America's history and its claiming of land isn't bad in any way shape or form

This thread is a strange mixture of win and fail.

Or, as Shakespeare might have put it (in Macbeth, appropriately enough): "So foul and fair a thread I have not seen."

:guffaw:That photo is hilarious. It deserves it's own "capture me," thread. :techman:

By the look in her eye, she ain't in any capturin' mood today.

It would look much better if the cross of the Irish flag was centered.

It seems to me that the easiest solution, from a purely vexillological standpoint, would be to keep the existing design, but substitute the black field from the Flag of St. David for the blue field of the Flag of St. Andrew. Like so:

That's hardly perfect, but it would offer the advantage of avoiding really major changes, while adding a Welsh element, in place of the Scottish element.

ETA: Of course, my suggestion is not nearly as funny as TheGodBen's.
Eh... for some reason when I see that I picture a swastika in the middle. Maybe it is the color scheme.

They want to be inderpendent from the UK but they still wish to keep the Queen... - Wouldn't it be great if they just made up their mind, be British or fend for yourselfs, no Queen! - Become a republic like Ireland by all means, just no Queen. - What's the point of Westminister if they're just going to make Holyrod anyway?

You do know the union of the crowns preceded the union of the parliaments by over a century [personal attack removed by poster].

If I lived in Scotland and wasn't an independence supporter before, I would be after talking with iBender. Dude

No kidding, that racist attitude - I can't see calling it anything else - definitely feeds the flame. I cannot believe some of the editorials I've seen in the English editions of the Daily Mail about Scotland - to think they have the gall to sell a Scottish edition of that frakking rag up here is incredible.

Forget it, he's on a roll.
Wow, he really is.

The Anglophobia in TNZ is fun because you get so many varieties! You've got Shaytan's "old respected rival" Frenchness, TheGodBen's tempered-kneejerk Irish viewpoint like a recovering Catholic, Deckerd's "been married for so long and now bickering" Scottishness, the run-of-the-mill American Anglophobia (like mine!) that comes from Scotch-Irish ancestry and the origins of the country, and then your ocassional batshit nutter like Tachy that just made all the stereotyps of Chavs come to life.
Let's not forget anyone's most beloved reptile who arrogantly think Italy and other European nations have rights and laws like the UK.

:alienblush: True, true. Sorry to have left you out, but if I was to list all the TNZers that hated the UK we'd be here all night.

They already belong to the third greatest country in the world,

What are the other two?

England and Wales.
:D

Canada and the United States. Maybe in that order. Then the U.K., and you get to France when you run out of Anglosphere states.

I have to wonder how much of my hatred of Scottish secession is just projection from being a self-loathing South Carolinian, though.

I should point out that I'm part Irish as well, so not 100% English. I am from London though.

I believe that the English are rather sore about the issue of bribery since their attempts at it (allegedly) failed to net them the 2018 world cup. Thankfully;)

I suppose this is the real difference. When we try to bribe someone, we are usually successful.

Or they might get an offer they can't refuse... :shifty:

Right, didn't Poland/Ukraine get the next European Championship even though Italy tried? ;)

Italy isn't what it used to be. :(
