SCIFI's Oscar best

Scifi/fantasy..I actually lump them together.

But I was think over the Academy Awards, the Oscars, and I have come to the the conclusion that LOTR; RETURN OF THE KING has be Scifi/Fantasy's biggest Oscar success. If I recall, it won Best Picture Best Director, Best screenplay and best Director, along with the techinial awards and music awards it won as well.

I don't think any scifi/fantasy move has ever done this well at the Oscars. So, I think The Return of the King has to be considered the best movie, over all, from that genre. It has the box office and the awards to make that claim.

Not only that, but it's one of the most successful films if you go by the number of accolades (as oppose to the most major awards). It ties Ben-Hur and Titanic for the most wins at 13.

I am not even a big fan of the LOTF movies. I mean, I like them and all that, they are really good films, but they didn't get to me as much as they do to my friends who had read the books.

But I got to give the movie its props. It did good and with all of the awards, accolades as you say, deserves the title of....roll the drums..
