"Sci-Fi Spectacular" concert

There's probably some more appropriate folder to post this in, but since I mostly hang out here…

A friend's taking me to this concert tomorrow: the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra with George Takei! Eeek!

Oooh! Have fun! I saw Star Wars: In Concert! and live performances of both Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers (at Radio City Music Hall, with the films playing in the background). Hearing film music performed live is an amazing experience.

I hope you thoroughly enjoy it!

I did!

Program included pieces from Star Trek and Star Wars, of course. Plus 2001: A Space Odyssey, E.T., The Day the Earth Stood Still, and I forget what else. There was a light show that was sort of fun but mostly distracting.

Takei gave the speech from the end of TDTESS and told a few stories. He did a very good job, and it was fun seeing him in person. But I have to admit I would've been even happier if it had been Nimoy or Stewart.

This is a yearly event isn't it? I seem to remember musing on attending myself one year.

Not sure about yearly, but it does seem to be a program which makes the US pops-concert rounds. There was a recent thread about someone going to see it in North Carolina, and a quick search also turns up dates in Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis and elsewhere over the last couple of years.
