Im suprised no ones mentioned AI: Artificial Intelligence yet. (Not me though, I loved it.)

There's much to like about that film. But, like War of the Worlds, it's quite strong (and dark), until Spielberg goes somewhere...else in the third act (and the film is worse for it). So I suppose you could call it disappointing.

as for my choice: X-Men 3, what a waste, although Im planning to rewatch it again soon to see if it really was as disappointing as I remember it being...

Event Horizon and Babylon AD. Two awful movies which I wanted to see because they had actors I liked, then wished I could have the time back which was stolen from me.

I loved Dark City and hated SW 1-2-3.

Interesting. I don't think you can even compare those 2. A better comparison might be Dark City vs. The Matrix.

I'm not, in fact, comparing them, only listing movies discussed by the previous posters responding to my OP in the context of whether or not we was disappointed by these movies. When I comapre movies - you'll know it.

And I wasn't disappointed by the Matrix sequels because I honestly didn't expect much from them. Ditto a lot of the movies mentioned here, such as Xmen 3 - you lookde at the helmer and knew it was a long shot. You can often see who's writing the script and who's directing on these projects and you know a good movie would be a surprise.

I also mentioned I'd rather see a bold and interesting film that isn't 100% successful than a successful mediocrity. AI falls into this camp for me, and IMO it's one of Speilberg's more interesting movies (as pointed out above, that third act thing again). But it's a heckuva lot more entertaining to me than TPM, which just makes me cringe.
