Scary Doctor Who dolls from Tonner

Perhaps creepy is a better choice.

There's also Gwen and that is indeed Martha.

The Barrowman likeness is decent, but Tennant's doll bears an uncanny resemblance to John Phillip Law and Gwen looks like they used a Silk Spectre head.

I scrolled down a bit more. The head is the same head they used for that Twilight doll. The likenesses are horrible, and they are trying to charge $170 each? Good luck with that.

Well, at least Dorothy looked fairly like Dorothy/Judy Garland. But yeah, the Tenth Doctor doll looks nothing like Tennant. I wouldn't even give then $5.00 for that.

It looks like the outfits they sold for barbie dolls where you can tell what the costume is but its just the same generic baribe action man inside

When Lara Croft's boobs are bigger than Power Girl's, you know you're in trouble!

Seriously, though, in fairness it's possible Tonner didn't get the rights for, say, Eve Myles' likeness so they made do. And these dolls (along with the Harry Potter and Twilight ones on that page) are still a lot better than they might have been 20 years ago and earlier when it was fairly rare for one of these to look anything like the real-life person. But we're so used to these things looking like the person, that if they don't then it stands out like a sore thumb.

can we have Jessica Rabbit as the companion?

That's arguably the best one of the lot.

I'm not a huge fan of Tonner. They've been trying to take Sideshow on at its own game - the first Tonners I remember seeing were a trio of super-expensive Spider-Man movie-related ones. (Oh yeah, those Doctor Who and Torchwood dolls will probably be easy $100US if not more.)

I'd much rather see Sideshow do some DW/TW statuettes, because they're dead-on accurate. (I'm still kicking myself for not picking up a 2 1/2-foot-tall Seven of Nine they put out a few years back, but I couldn't justify $300 at the time). The only thing good about the Tonner line is that fact they're at least including Martha and Gwen. Not that the female companions aren't being included in the main smaller action figure line, and I did see a 10-inch Martha action figure at one point, but they do tend to focus mainly on the Doctor and monsters, never mind that there might actually be a market (from boys, girls, and adults) for, say, a Sally Sparrow or a Romana. I'd love to see a "Regeneration Set" issued for the two Romanas.

I think we don't see Rose is because I think Billie was upset about her likeness on at least the initial Rose figure (The one with the droopy eye and the costume from "Rose") and is very picky about her likeness. I think that's why Martha is more visible in merchandising.

I follow a guy on DeviantArt (trevsolo) who is a sculptor for Sideshow. I'm with ya, Skidoo--I would SO love to see Sideshow do DW!

I'd love to see NECA take on DW, too, for a bit more affordable but still fairly accurate likenesses.

The thing Tonner is best for is clothing. And their non-likeness dolls are great for customization. But only one or two of their character/celeb dolls actually are good for likenesses (their new Judy Garland Dorothy sculpt is pretty good).
