Scarlett Johannsson discusses Black Widow

That is obscure. I wonder if the setting means that Blonde Phantom was, at some point, being considered as a character for the WWII Captain America film.

Also curious that the Scarlet Witch came up in these discussions--as a mutant, isn't she licensed to FOX?

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

On one hand, Wanda is more of an Avengers character than a X-Men one. That said, the presence of a white haired speedster in X-Men Origins: Wolverine complicates matters.

I, for one, certainly cannot think of a tall blonde superheroine she'd be suited too.

Nope.

I agree that Ms. Marvel should be played by a taller actress, if Ms. Marvel ever appears in a movie (that would be nice, but it's not a sure thing). Which studio owns her film rights?

There's also that any-decade-now origin film for Magneto to consider. I suppose they don't have to follow the comics' lead and have her and Quicksilver as Magneto's children, or give him children at all, but...

I find Ms. Marvel to be a spectacularly dull character. Johansson would be wasted on such a movie.

Run. Run now. :klingon:

Marvel, by default since nobody has expressed an interest as far as I'm aware.

Just highlights the problem of chopping the rich, interconnected Marvel Universe up in to franchises.

I'd rather stay here and talk about it, if you don't mind. What is it about Ms. Marvel that makes her a unique and compelling character?

Brian Reed's run on her book has made her one of the more interesting characters in the Marvel Universe. With her leadership of the Mighty Avengers and prominent roles in recent major crossovers, she is possibly the most important female character Marvel have right now.

Reed has fleshed out the Carol Danvers side of her, too.

I'm glad that work has been done to make her more compelling, but what is it about her that makes her stand out from the crowd? In what way is she unique? What aspects of the character make you crave for more?

For me, it's just a matter of her not being a miserable emo like so many other prominent Marvel superheroines. She had her problems a long time ago now, but unlike Rogue, Spider-Woman, Jean Grey etc it's not always some big drama with her. She wants not just to be a superheroine but the world's best superheroine.
