Sawyer's Glasses

Nardpuncher

Rear Admiral
So some people think that the island has healing properties. SO what does it say about Sawyer that he needed glasses after getting to the island?

In a semi-related way...why the heck does it seem like every episode someone's getting shot or stabbed or hurt? I think in the first 3 seasons (all I've seen so far) Jack has given CPR about 8 times!

Weird, I named a character in a video game Nardpuncher recently.

Anyways, maybe the island doesn't heal, so much as it slows the progress down. So Whats her face feels like the cancer is gone, but really it's just been slowed so she doesn't feel it. Thats why Sawyers eyes would still be bad. Of course that doesn't really explain bens back cancer or jacks appendicitis.

Well, needing glasses doesn't mean the eyes are unhealthy. If you're near-sighted, then the eyes are too strong (often an adaptation the eye goes thru to aid a person who does a lot of reading). If you're far-sighted, the eye is weak (it focuses light behind the retina). Either way, the eyes are not unhealthy.

I forget when Sawyer wears his glasses...I guess I need to watch more Lost!

So far who lives/dies/gets healed seems completely arbitrary, eg there's no rhyme or reason so far. We've had hints (eg Ben's recent "Rule Change" comment, etc etc) that it's not just random, but in my mind some of the deaths have been random simply because real world circumstances forced the writers hand (ego Eko, Ana-Lucia, etc).

It's almost certain we'll get some explanation later on, but I fully expect there to be unexplained exceptions that we'll be left in the dark about forever.

Well, the island does not prevent people from dying usually so I don't think having characters die is ignoring the island's healing properties.

Sawyer may still need glasses, but I thought he lost them on the raft. Plus, we haven't seen him reading much lately.

But, I think being on the Island's Naughty List made you sick, I think Sawyer would have a problem bigger than a little near (or far)-sightedness.

He did lose them on the raft, but they found a pair at the Barracks

I wish all my patients were as flexible as Sawyer.

All I hear all day is, "I can't read the news ticker on the bottom of the Fox News screen!" One more reason to hate 24 hour news channels. ;)

If every good person got healed then Hurley would have lost weight, Locke would have grown hair, and Jack would have grown balls.
