Saw 3D

Okay, raise your hand if you think Saw 3D (the 7th film in the franchise) is actually going to be the last. It's being advertised as the final chapter. Remember how well that worked for Friday the 13th? Yeah... they made five more based on Earth before shipping him into space, then having him come back to fight Freddy, then the rebooted him (poorly, I might add).

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. NO HE WASN'T. He came back to harass the cast, followed by Jason Voorhees, followed by the people that actually paid money to see the reboot of the Nightmare on Elm Street Franchise.

Back to my original point. If this film makes more money than expected, how dumb are they going to look when they have more films tacked on after the final chapter?

Or, do you think we're going to see a reboot within the next few years?

I seem to recall it wasn't planned as the last 8 was commissioned and 9 was planned, then 7 became 3D and 8 and 9 were dropped after 6 didn't perform as well as previous outings. Though I may be misinformed on that.
I saw it last night and thought it was just as disappointing as the previous 2, but it ended in such a way that they could keep it going with no need to change or reboot anything. I find it hard to believe this will be the final one and think there will be more before within 5 years.

Haven't seen it yet, but it looks like we'll be going.

Unless it does really badly, I'd be surprised if we don't see another one this time next year.

I wasn't planning on seeing it but I figured since it's the last I might as well because I'd seen the rest, came about 4 films too late in my opinion. Won't be planning on seeing any more if they continue to produce them.

I never watched the movies... and question the quality of seven movies that came out in seven years (see Police Academy and Friday the 13th)... but didn't he die in the third movie?

If this really is the last movie, they'll just reboot it in several years with a PG-13 rating and casting the hottest young stars of the time.

I SAW (get it? haha! ...nevermind ) this last night. The first half was kind of goofy. The Internal Affairs agent seemed a little too bumbling for these movies, and I don't know if his cheesy dialogue was written intentionally or not.

I will say, however, this movie has some cringe-worthy traps. And I'm talking Saw II-needle-pit-cringe-worthy. So the traps don't disappoint.

I won't give away the ending, as it's something I've expected since early on in the Saw franchise, but the way it's executed blew me away. If you're a fan of the Saw movies at all, you WILL get goosebumps from the last five minutes of the movie. The ending works as a finale for the Saw franchise, but it also can easily be gotten around so a certain character can still be in future movies.

All in all, I'm glad I went. And the more I think about it, the more I loved this movie's ending.

It will probably be the end of the series. The movies have been getting more expensive, and their box office returns have been diminishing. It also doesn't help when your leading villain has been dead since the third film in the franchise. There's only so many times you can bring him back with flashbacks, etc. before stretching credibility.

As for SAW 3D, I haven't seen it, and if I do, it won't be in 3D, nor in the theatre.

I really enjoy the SAW series, I think they have a really interesting intricate story with great twists and turns. It's definitely not just torture porn. That said I think it's going on too long. I thought the story was going to end with 6, and when that just turned out to be a set up for the next one I really started to lose interest.

I think it's amazing that they went four movies after killing off the main character yet still manage to tell an interesting story.

^That's the way I used to see it around Saw 4, but then it got ridiculous with all the elements they tried to shoehorn in with retconning so damn much. They retcon more this time, it does kinda make sense in one aspect but it gets so convoluted you can't believe any one could plan that way. Also after Saw 6 me and some friends were talking and they couldn't remember certain aspects so we started to go over the plot and we got lost, couldn't remember where certain elements came in or how you found out about them.

I just saw it tonight. Yeah, as a big fan of the series, I LOVED the ending. Based on the fact that a certain someone appears at the start of the movie, it was kinda obvious it was coming, but still, awesome stuff.

I really think by now these movies are totally critic proof. Like today I was flicking through a newspaper and saw it got 1/5. I didn't bother reading the review, but like... come on. You know what to expect by now- blood and guts galore, a bit of dodgy acting, and a guy with a very gravely voice. If you're a fan of the movies you'll see this, and if you're not you won't, simple as.

I did think this one started out not so great, but once it got going I really, really enjoyed, the best one in a while. The scene with Chester Bennington (lead singer of Linkin Park) playing the guy stuck the car seat was BRUTAL!

Also, when I mentioned dodgy acting earlier, its been seen a fair amount of times in I-VI, but oh my god, the guy playing the main detective cop guy, Gibson, was fucking TERRIBLE! It was hilarious! He was so bad it was like watching a spoof or something. But you know, that just made me enjoy the film more to be honest.


Another point on this one, anyone notice that pretty much all the victims are women? Ha, if you're a mysogynist you'll love this film!


So I hope they do let it rest for a while. At least a few years, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it came back eventually. And you know what, I wouldn't really complain if they did either

I think The Final Destination was supposed to be the last one of that series, but evidently another one is in the works, so who knows. Maybe the torch has been passed to the Paranormal Activity movies for Halloween releases.
