    Mirror?

Ironically (and that's likley what they were going for) the crew of the Cosmic Spider(yes that's what I'm calling it here) somewhat very loosely start out as a darker, broken Mirror reflection, anti-TNG crew:

    - Riker; amicable, sociable, pride of Starfleet / Rios; brooding, cynical, loner, shunned by Sartfleet.
    - Geordi ; kind, hard working, intuitive, focused (blind yet sees on a different spectrum) / Raffi Irritable, obsessed to a disabilitating degree, strung out, consumed by conspiracy (ironically only one that sees truth)
    - Dr.Crusher; unwavering hippocratic oath, do no harm, swear to indiscriminately protect/heal all life / Dr. Jurati; swayed to straight murder you in your hospital bed
    - Worf; boastful, loud, overdramitic, impulsive protector/ Elnor; withdrawn, tempered, unnoticed, stealthy protector.
    - Data; Synth-A.I. wants to become human / Soji(et all) ; Synth-A.I.s might want to wipe out humanity.

Unless; .... as we saw, in Picard's orbit, they all (character arc) turn that around, or turn the same into positives (being the narrative point of putting him with this somewhat gone awry crew).

I see MU Rios as a former slave who fervently believed in the Terran Empire and worked all his life to restore it.

    And succeeded.

    First look S2 Captain Rios...
Rios and La Sirena are back, although with new Strarfleet badge?
And Rios looks just as surprised, a wish fulfillment ruse by Q not withstanding, is he back in starfleet for the season?

    New badge, symbol, meaning?

He's still on La Sirena, but seems surprised by his own clothes and badge, and I think the decor has changed slightly too - maybe dropped from one timeline into another, or something?

the bars I believe are Rank insignia like in Future Imperfect/Parallels, Picard is wearing the same badge at the start and it had 4 bars.

"Time offers so many opportunities, but never second chances."
    Unless Q is involved.

This is going to be rough on Rios, if Q's "wish fulfillment" ruse offers Rios a second chance at being in "Star Fleet" again. (what Picard sensed Rios couldn't hide about himself). After being forced out, being part of Star Fleet again is something Rios wants back more than anything. Especially if the events of the Ibn Majid are erased.
Yet if this alt reality comes with the caveat he (and La Sirena) have to serve under a fascist Star Fleet, as the chair logo and flags indicate, I hope Rios can let Q's temptation go.
Likely heavily depends on what Picard(who he seems to venerate) will ask of him, and to what ends.

When he realises the cost, I think Rios might be hitting the Pisco again and staring out that damn window.

Interesting... I would think that Rios' biggest wish could be to save his captain (and the two androids he killed).

The new Rios novel Rogue Elements is a really good story for Rios I really enjoyed how his journey was handled in the book. And some of the back story of how he ended getting the La Sirena and mention of Captain Vanadameer and what happened on the Ibin Majid.

    From the new action trailer:

    Who are you?
    We're the good guys!

I thought the "who are you" sounds a bit like it's Agnes from season 1, asking Raffi who she is
But the trailer was gone too quickly to check if that's actually where it from.

Given the hair and height, it looks a bit like Rios is talking to Soji (in which case his "We're the good guys" wouldn't be a reply to "who are you" but more something along the lines of "we're the good guys, so we don't do that thing you just suggested")

But that is nothing but wild speculation.

By the way Rios and Agnes are dressed, do they attend some gala?

Do we think the mystery woman in red is Agnes? I thought so from the shot of her walking down the street, but the "running over cars" but has me wondering.

It's got to be the same event Picard and Laris attend, too. We saw that shot of Rios and Picard shielding their eyes while Laris points a light out at people in... the Star Trek Day trailer, if I'm not mistaken.

Well I hope so, cause that would be embarrassing, as I posted the same gifs in the Agnes thread:o - https://www.trekbbs.com/threads/the-dr-agnes-jurati-thread.302793/page-8#post-14026893
What if it's Soji in a wig? It would better explain the insane running skillz.

Cristóbal Rios: now Captain of the Stargazer... NCC 82893
    [IMG]

Apparently he gave La Sirena to Seven, although hopefully she brings La Sirena on board as the permanent Shuttle/Runabout of the Stargazer

    Now wouldn't that be something!
Though I worry she might be a little too big for that, depending on how large the shuttle bay is...
But somehow picturing Rios without Sirena feels strange, as good as the pips look on him, so I hope she sticks around post-Q-shenanigans.
