There is absolutely nothing in that linked article that actually confirms people's speculations about Patrick Stewart playing Prof. X based on the trailer.

The presence of Patrick's voice in the trailer isn't confirmation of him playing Prof. X; confirmation of that idea would be a direct statement from either Kevin Feige or Patrick Stewart himself unequivocally stating that Prof. X is in the film and that Patrick is playing him.

They had to know everyone was going to assume Stewart was playing Xavier when they included him in the trailer, so that really makes me think he's playing someone else. Since everyone was going to go there anyways, they wouldn't have had anything to lose by showing him, but since they didn't, that makes me think there's something else going on there.
I just had a thought, what if he's playing either an older variant of Strange, or a male variant of The Ancient One?
Any other Marvel characters, besides Xavier, that he would be a good fit for?

I don't really think there was only just 'one' version of Prof X played by Patrick Stewart in all of his Prof X appearances anyway tho.

He's going to be playing the fox version of Professor X from the Multiverse. That doesn't tie the MCU to anything beyond the idea that other realities with DIFFERENT versions of MCU characters exist <--- a fact that has already been demonstrated in the film: Spider-Man: No Way Home.

And as Marvel and Disney now own all the fox X-Men films, as well as the film rights to all those characters; why wouldn't they leverage any of the popular aspects of all that?

It's Patrick Stewart, he's wearing clothes similar to his DOFP outfit and he rolls into frame. Plus this movie is a continuation (in part) of No Way Home. He's playing a Charles Xavier; just not the one we'll get on an ongoing basis.

They want us to think it's Xavier, but they aren't clearly showing us that it's Xavier, so that makes me think it's not actually going to be him.
To me this is kind of like TV show episode promos where they show a character get shot and they want us to think they're going to die or get seriously hurt, but then when the episode airs, they're wearing a bullet proof vest and get up perfectly fine right after what we saw in the trailer.
The more the trailers want us to think something, without actually showing it clearly, the more convinced that makes me that it's not what's actually happening.
So I'm not going to be convinced it's actually Xavier until either someone involved in the movie officially confirms it's him, or I see the movie.
