I'm putting this in Science Fiction and Fantasy because while the story is based on events that really happened, it strays into some odd areas, which is kind of a shame, as the story needed no embellishments.

Anyway if you have Amazon Prime and want to see a kind of remotely-accurate story of one of the biggest adventures that really happened in spaceflight, watch Salyut 7.

the plot scenario is that in 1985 the Soviets lost control with their space station (this was about a year before Mir launched) and set up a daring rescue mission to dock and fix it, if possible. I found the acting very good. I admit, apart from the Yuri Gagarin film that also came out recently, I haven't seen a lot of modern Russian films, so I don't have much to base this against, but the filming was extremely well done. I'm still not sure how they did some of the zero-gee scenes and I suspect they may have had to film it in a plane on parabolic trajectories.

Some of the side plot elements, that I wont go into here for spoilers sake, were kind of silly and did not need to be there, but if you like the movie, you'll be wiki'ing what the real story was, anyway.

Well, it's factual enough that S7 lost power and had to reactivatedby a repair crew. Sounds interesting.
