So what are everyone's thoughts on this one?

I actually like it quite a lot.

I liked the science/religion tension, Janeway's opinion on all of that, and the vision quest scenes. The music was exemplary as well.

Edit: Just noticed I posted an identical thread eight months ago, if a mod wishes to close this thread, they can. If not, that's fine too.

I've done that too, revisited a thread theme :)

I kind of like those episodes where spirituality and science mingle. I don't personally believe there is a scientific rationalisation for everything, let alone life. This episode once more showed the lengths Janeway personally went for her crew, her family.

I don't care that much for the conclusion of the episode, where Janeway seems to doubt if perhaps there is more than just science, after all… it's a bit predictable.

However, I do like the part where she discovers the ritual really is meaningless (except for the meaning she assigns to it), just like the guides told her, and that in a way she has made it a lot harder for herself, only because her own expectations of what the ritual is supposedly about got in the way.

I like it.
I like the fact that janeway is really to sacrifice herself to save a member of the crew and that she didn't give up despite the attempts from some Nechani that she should.
