ETA: That was back when networks more or less allowed their competitors to have one good night. CBS had the night of Chuck Norris.. NBC had Must See TV Thursday...

Anyway, I always enjoyed TGIF. It was Boy Meets World (which I watched off and on, never really loved it), Sabrina (which I generally watched), and whatever revolving show they tended to put on after. I've seen sporadic episodes from later seasons, but I think I only regularly watched the first three seasons.

I loved this show. I have a good chunk of them on dvd, though the dvd sets scream "on the cheap".

There is some terrible buthercing on them though, I assume due to them not wanting to pay fir rights or something.

For example, in the penultimate epsiode when Sabrina is on a cruise with Roxy and Morgan, the scene introducing the singer is cut, so he just suddenly appears at the table during the show.

But the main unforgivable thing is in the final scene. As Harvey and Sabrina ride off on the motorbike, No Doubt's Running is the song that nornally plays, makes it a very romantic and great scene that I love. The dvd dubs out "running" and plays some generic, crappy song. I hate.

Now I was never going to get what I want on these dvds, MJH and the guy playing Salem doing commentary on each epsiode in character, that would have rocked, but overall the dvds disappoint me so much.

I couldn't agree more! Greatest show ever, and Salem was the greatest TV character ever. (I may be slightly biased!)

Hehe. I've so many pictures of Salem in different outfits it is a but worrying but they were always the funniest part of the episode for me. I've always wanted a picture of him eating a banana though have never tracked it down, or him as a sheep which I've only seen in a low quality youtube clip:

I remember having to do Google searches on Melissa Joan Hart for reference and thinking that it was pretty cool that I was getting paid for it. I also remember the liasion with the show (MJH's mother, a producer on the show) telling us to make the Sabrina character design less sexy & curvy. This was around the same time that MJH was doing photoshoots like this. Kind of ironic, I thought.

I am currently re-watching the series...I think S1-3 were great & S5-7 were pretty good...but S4 was awkward. I really wish they had kept Jenny & Mr Poole for S1-4 and not added Valerie...I would have kept Libby into S4...Brad the witch hunter was dumb and Dreama just didn't work. Ideally I would have liked to have seen VP Kraft, Mr Poole & Ms Quick, Jenny, Harvey, Libby and then Sabrina, Zelda, Hilda & Salem as the S1-4 cast and then Josh, Miles, Roxie, Morgan, Harvey, Sabrina, Zelda, Hilda & Salem as the S5-7 cast...with various guests.

That has nothing to do with why I prefer Jenny to Valerie...Valerie was whiny, shallow and often not a good friend to Sabrina...Jenny was a way better friend to Sabrina and didn't care what Libby thought...unlike Valerie.
