Seven years after her brother’s death, Samantha Darko is on the run…from her shattered home, from her bizarre past, and even from herself. But when she and her friend Corey are stranded in a desert town, they witness a meteorite crash that fractures time…and begins a countdown to the end of the world. Now Sam must rely on the frightening visions that plague her dreams to overcome her own dark destiny and set time back on course before everything she knows is destroyed!

Released 12th May 2009

I love the original, but I'm sure this will be complete offal. Be to Donnie Darko what Butterfly Effect 2 is to The Butterfly Effect, but even worse. Probably along the lines of the simply offensive American Psycho 2: All American Girl

And yet I am actually curious about it; I'll wait for some reviews

My buddies and I get together a few times a year and watch 4-6 horror movies of varying degrees of quality and scarf down pizza... S. Darko is destined to be one of the movies we watch.

I can only watch movies like this with some pals as we crack a few jokes at the film's expense...

Yeah, just as long as she's not screaming CELLAR DOOOR! CELLAR DOOR! at any point of the movie, I'll check this out.

I didn't realise at first it's the same actress playing Samantha Darko as in the original.
Wow, she's actually pretty hot now. That's a bit disturbing

Wait, somebody else in the world saw American Psycho 2? Or, at least, the movie that became American Psycho 2 late in production--slap on that prologue, tweak the narration, suddenly you have something people will buy. At least this began its life as a follow-up. Which is about all the good I can say about it--looks atrocious (the trailer doesn't even have footage from it--it's all from Donnie Darko!).

^ Just to say I adore American Psycho, my favourite book of all time and one of my favourite films. I saw about the first 4 minutes of the "sequel" on Youtube, and it was perhaps the most offensive shittiest thing I've ever seen

Yeah, American Psycho 2 remains one of the worst sequels of all time, if you can even call it a sequel, which is really sad considering where Patrick Bateman goes in his literary form. While I think a real sequel to American Psycho would just be a bad idea, and I don't think Christian Bale would do it, I always had a fantasy of following up the character in a loose sense like how they made Ripley's Game with John Malkovich.

I like American Psycho 2 for what it is, but it wasn't a very good 'sequel' to American Psycho.

That said, I'm thoroughly convinced S. Darko will suck.

I wonder how actors feel when they're making an "original" movie, but by the time it's released the studio slaps a different title to it and makes it a sequel to something it was never intended to be (like Havoc 2 or 8MM 2).
