Ryan Reynolds IS Green Lantern

Man what is with all the haters on Timberlake? JT as Flash, you heard it here first.

I am actual surprised they are even going the Hal Jordan route. I would have bet money that they would have went the John Stewart and Kyle route in this day and age, but I guess things still have not changed across the board.
You can blame DC for bringing back Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. He's undeniably the most popular of the Lanterns since the beginning of the "Silver Age" of comics.

Maybe they can combine the two; Green Lantern and Dead Pool. He could be Green Pool, Dead Lantern or maybe Pool Lantern.

in the same breath that everyone was trying to make Sandra Bullock seem to be 43 just to obfuscate their unforgivable union to seem inobvious.
She was 43 when The Proposal was filmed.

DAMN!

But it only seems like yesterday that she was the teen wonder staring in that memorable movie of the Week the Bionic Girl.

I think there was a comment on this in 30 Rock when 52 year old Alec Baldwins character was passing at "Lemons" High School reunion: "Rich 50 is the same as middle class 30 Lemon."

I honestly thought she was 35, despite that I am 32 and I recall seeing Demolition man on the way home from school between connecting buses... I must be in denial.

Is Dick Clark still 19?

I can't believe it's been nearly 10 years of comic book movies being trendy and we're only getting around to Green Lantern now.

I just hope it embraces it's sci-fi background and we get some very exciting sequences. I want a good plot as much as the next guy but if we only get 2 scenes of Hal really using the ring, I'll be disappointed. As much as I've enjoyed many of the comic book films that have come out over the last decade, not much of the action has managed to top what we've seen in the Justice League cartoon series. The train battle from the finale of Spider-Man 2 stands out as something I'd like to see more of in these films, the comic book characters doing things only these characters can do. Green Lantern has a ton of great potential.

Anyway, I don't think Ryan Reynolds is a perfect choice, I'm a Chris Pine fanboy so I'd have given the role to him but at the same time Ryan Reynolds is a damn good choice. Of the 3 options in Temis' poll I voted for Reynolds.

As sexy as he is, there's something about Ryan Reynolds that's hard to take seriously. Maybe it's because he's done a lot of comedies, which suit him more. I just can't picture him as Hal Jordan or Kyle Rayner at all.

Funny, all those years hearing about her in romantic comedy and chick flick roles, I could swear she was closer to 50. :borg: I don't care for her at all (and chick flicks, for that matter).

Not something I'd have expected; Reynolds is famous for a light touch, and Hal Jordan is the squarest of the square. He definitely looks the part.

I saw the Proposal the other day and I swear his character must have been 23, in the same breath that everyone was trying to make Sandra Bullock seem to be 43 just to obfuscate their unforgivable union to seem inobvious.

I was thinking that myself. They'd be better matched as brother and sister. I was thinking the same thing when I saw "Music and lyrics"

Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore as an item? no way.

Haha, maybe it would have been more plausible if they traded. After all Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock already did a rom-com, and I could definitely see Reynolds and Barrymore in one together. :)

I think Reynolds may prove to be another Heath Ledger, where he really surprises us. I think Reynolds has range, we just haven't seen much of it. And as of right now, as mentioned before, he's sort of at the cusp of movie stardom. A role like this might be exactly what Reynolds is looking for to expand his horizons and cement his actor/movie star status.

I also very much agree with Evil Dead that its about time we got a superhero movie that truly dazzles us, and if any superhero has that potiental it's Green Lantern. Martin Campbell has a real good eye for action, and the construction of a good action sequence (the foot chase in Campbell's own Casino Royale remains probably my favorite foot chase of all time), so I think we have little to worry about in that regard.

I am a tad worried about the script, though. The draft I read was borderline cheese.

You know, I can see Weaving playing Sinestro....and I don't think, even though Marvel and DC are competitors, they'd let the fact that Reynolds is cast as GL stop Deadpool from being made. Hollywood is all about $$$, and if they think a movie will make it, it'll be made.

I see Weaving more as a Guardian, and would love to see Alan Rickman as Sinestro...:bolian:

Kinda what I was thinking. He's not a terrible actor by any means but something about him just doesn't fit the Lantern role. He's too much of a babyface to me and I always thought GL was a tad more rugged.

His age means nothing, it's just the general pretty boy look he has going on that makes it hard to see him as GL and be serious and believable but maybe he will pull it off. I did think Heath was a retarded choice as Joker at first but I wasn't just proven wrong, I was blown away with a grenade and owned by his performance. Heath sure showed me, that's for sure.
