RTD's a dismal hack, isn't he? Well, maybe you disagree. So, to see which of his stories are more popular, answer yes or no as to whether each of his stories gets a pass from you. Gwan, it'll be fun. :)

Rose - no
The End of the World - no
Aliens of London/World War Three - no
The Long Game - no
Boom Town - no
Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways - no
The Christmas Invasion - no
New Earth - no

Army of Ghosts/Doomsday - no
The Runaway Bride - no
Smith and Jones - yes
Gridlock - yes
Utopia - yes
The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords - no

Planet of the Dead - no
The Waters of Mars - no
The End of Time - no

I've not seen any since they first aired from Love and Monsters onwards, so everything after that is from memory. Three yeses in series three, mind. That's not too bad on Rusty's part, though some are quite a dim memory. Smith and Jones was alright I seem to recall (radiation shoe aside - bet the Doctor wished he'd remembered he could do that in Planet of the Spiders [or, indeed TEOT]), and Gridlock and Utopia were alright I think. Turn Left too. Still, allowing for my memory's generosity still gives only a 20% level of acceptability. Maybe they should have chosen Pip and Jane to showrun instead.

The only one of those that doesn't get a pass from me is "Voyage of the Damned" because I thought it was boring.

In fact, I have finally been able to watch Series 5 with Moffat and Matt Smith, and I have found most of it terrible compared to the previous seasons.

What was wrong with it for you? To me it was complete fucking rubbish like most of RTD's output, but I'm curious as to why you'd single that out over stuff like Journey's End or Love and Monsters.

Well, I don't think the guy's a dismal hack ... I give him all the credit in the world for making Doctor Who more popular than it's ever been, and restoring it to a cultural icon. Very few people could have done that, and he pulled it off. That said, I'm very glad to see him gone.

As for the stories:

Rose - Yes.
The End of the World - Yes.
Aliens of London/World War Three - God, no.
The Long Game - No.
Boom Town - No.
Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways - Yes.

Love and Monsters - Fucking Christ, I'd rather be raped by a wildebeest.
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday - Yes.
The Runaway Bride - Yes.
Smith and Jones - Yes.
Gridlock - Yes.
Utopia - Yes.
The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords - Yes to the former; I'll never watch the latter again.
Voyage of the Damned - Absolutely terrible.
Partners in Crime - No.
Midnight - Yes.
Turn Left - Yes.
The Stolen Earth/Journey's End - Again, yes to the former, while the latter is far beyond awful.
The Next Doctor - No.
Planet of the Dead - God, no.
The Waters of Mars - Oh, yes.
The End of Time - A few good ideas trapped by a mountain of shit.

26 Yeas, 5 Nays. Not a bad score for my money.

Rose - Yes.
The End of the World - Yes.
Aliens of London/World War Three - no, no, no, no, ugh.
The Long Game - Yes...barely.
Boom Town - Yes.
Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways - Yes, actually thought this was a better sendoff than 10 got, made sense in a kind of character arc for the new series.
The Christmas Invasion - Yes.
New Earth - nope, what a freaking waste.
Tooth and Claw - Yes.
Love and Monsters - no, nooooo
Army of Ghosts/Doomsday - Eh. Pretty sloppy, but the sendoff for Rose worked on an emotional level. Pass...I guess. Ugh, maybe not.
The Runaway Bride - noooo
Smith and Jones - no
Gridlock - yes
Utopia/The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords - yes, but I'd rather have had Moffat come in and do a rewrite on all three scripts, trying to honor the 'sprit' of the originals but fixing many, many flaws.
Voyage of the Damned - god, no
Partners in Crime - nope
Midnight - yes, but I feel RTD was trying to imitate Moffat.
Turn Left - yes
The Stolen Earth/Journey's End - the absolute WORST of Doctor Who, IMHO
The Next Doctor - noooooo
Planet of the Dead - no!
The Waters of Mars - no!
The End of Time - No, and what a shameful sendoff AND a shameful return of the Master. How can you screw up, "The Doctor regenerates after one final battle with the Master"??

I guess I somehow likes the stories with Eccleston more. Maybe Rusty was trying harder...except for farting aliens. I dunno. I feel he really went off the rails at the end there.

Maybe he was like Gene Rodenberry: if he had the right people to veto him, tell him NO, or try and work around his strange rules you ended up with a great product. Maybe at the end they just told him to do whatever, and thus we get The Stolen Earth.
