How much more stressful is tv production today compared to a like decade ago, especially with fewer episodes, considering tv back in 2015 also had tons of cgi and camera angles and reshoots? The only difference, episode count aside, that I can think of is that the new stuff was framed with 9:16 aspect ratio for social media as much as it was for 16:9 (hence a lot of empty space scenes with key characters placed side-by-side, which would be easier to frame for the camera as they're focusing on what's in the middle (9:16). )
Also, will the next Doctor be 8?
Doctor Who is currently, surprisingly Doctor-less. You’ve worked on the series in the past; where would you like to see it go in future?
It’s been back for 20 years, which is an awfully long time. Almost as long as its original run. That’s pretty spectacular. So maybe it’s time for another rest. I really don’t know. I only know that I still love the show with all my heart

I'm more and more convinced there's a story beyond his departure. Not a full-on Eccleston situation but something happened.
He went from talking about shooting S3 this year to them having to reshoot the ending to get rid of him in the span of a few weeks.
I think this is the first time I've seen Sony refer to Doctor Who as their series.
Stupid question time; why can't they just co-produce it with the Beeb?
I guess the question is whether it was some behind the scenes unpleasantness (ala Eccleston) or whether he's learned something about the show's future (or lack thereof) and decided to leave. I'm leaning towards the latter at the moment. I'm sure there are other options too, but either of those seem possible.I'm more and more convinced there's a story beyond his departure. Honestly, I think it's just the uncertainty about the show's future that prompted him to leave. He may well have learned that Disney wasn't going to decide any time soon (as we're seeing by way of lack of an announcement). As an up and coming star, he's naturally not going to want to wait around.Admittedly I may be reading too into things seeing things which may not necessarily be there, but does anyone get the impression some manner of rift has developed between Gatwa and RTD? Maybe not to the same extent as RTD's falling out with Eccleston, but I do kind of get the impression RTD and Gatwa might not be best pals either these days.
Which leads me to further wonder, could RTD be difficult to work with? Granted, there are plenty of actors who have praised him, and Tennant clearly has no problems with him. Though RTD himself as admitted to some character flaws and some less than pleasant personality traits in The Writer's Tale, and even actors who are positive of him doesn't not necessarily negate the possibility of him being difficult. After all, Eccleston thought very highly of RTD before Doctor Who, indeed, it was a primary reason why he took on the role of the Doctor.
I dunno, just an idle thought of mine.
To me it just sounds like they're desperate to maintain a relationship with Disney given their funding crisis. The article isn't so much about DW as it is about their overall relationship with Disney and their other sources of revenue. It's just positive babble hoping to stay good with Disney in general. If they don't co-produce DW, the BBC still wants to work with Disney.Make of this what you will.
