Spoilers Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I think it was the series preview in the Radio Times that said the Finale was connected to the 3rd Doctor era.

And he's softened a lot on the idea of playing the part in recent times.

Is the bigger issue not so much Sean’s willingness as RTD’s stated opposition to multi-Doctor stories? He didn’t even bring old doctors other than DT back for the 60th anniversary. Would he really want to do so now, when it might overshadow the final episode of Ncuti’s first season?

It could flashback(s) to whatever the 3rd Doctor connection is, so not a multi Doctor team-up story. We also know the Memory TARDIS appears in the finale so there could be some connection there.

Hey, thanks! I’d never seen that either.

Damn, I've never seen that either! Thank you for pointing it out.
That's not a short minisode, thats just edited as one, out of the bookend of the BBC3 (I think?) documentary Ultimate Guide of Doctor Who that was another 50th anniversary look on the show with lots of clips and interrviews and such.

That wrap-around I think I read somewhere as being written by Gareth Roberts, btw.

How likely is it that Sean Pertwee is playing the 3rd Doctor?
My fan-guess would be, Sean Pertwee plays the Doctor in a flashback scene set in a serial we know, and that sets up whatever plot point is going to be the focal point in this two-parter.

That said, RTD really seems to me like a guy who opposes multi-Doctor stories as his thing (he still allowed Time Crash to occur, btw). but you never know. He said we'll scream, and if that'd be the reason, I'm all for it. Why else get Sean Pertwee after all?

Sean Pertwee could be playing the 3rd Doctor, or the Doctor's son. Shoot, he could even be playing Susan!

I don't think it'll be a multi-Doctor story though where they're working together. Flashbacks possibly.

But it could be something else entirely. The reported 3rd Doctor era connection could be that Sean Pertwee is in it but not more than that!

I'd never seen that one before, and I'll take it as more evidence for my conviction that 11 and Clara were doing the bumpy wumpy. :)

It's odd. Though I'm pretty sure I never saw that minisode myself, there are shots in it which do look familiar for some reason.
