Gatwa taking a break won't actually lead to much of a gap for the audience. With his second season nearly done filming, Gatwa could easily wait until next year to film his third season, and we the audience will watch it in 2026 as it was likely planned anyway.

Oh OK, I thought we might end up with a year or more without DW.

Of course, if RTD is really committed to this idea of all of the previous regenerations being retrospectively bigenerations, he could in theory bring any past Doctor back for a gap year. Not that I think he would do so.

Point of order, it was sixteen between McCoy and said pastry fellow, with McGann being roughly in the middle of that.

Just a stylised cross, and similar to the top of the actual crown. Could just as easily be Maltese.
