Is this what they call Corporate Synergy?

Warner Bros is Glad that you are Happy.
And we are Happy that they are Glad.

Any Americans who had already signed contracts would likely be allowed to honor them, as the SAG-AFTRA strike is not legal in the UK and SAG-AFTRA members who have signed an Equity contract could be held liable for stopping work under that contract. (It’s why House of the Dragon and Industry are still filming.) So it really depends how far ahead of time they’re formalizing casting decisions; some Americans might already be locked in for early episodes.

From RTD/Scott Handcock in the new DWM.

There's still at least one well known guest star that hasn't been identified anywhere yet.

While they've been using the old version in various videos, there will be a new Title Theme arrangement by Murray.

ADR for most Blocks should be completed at time of reading. (So no strike related issues for the Yanks.)

A Block 4 episode is unlike anything ever seen in the show before. (Presumably the musical episode.)

First draft scripts for the 2025 Series are all being worked on. And the first pre-Production meetings have taken place. (Including Costume Design.)

BBC Studios hold regular Licencee Meetings (BF/ Titan Comics etc. ) where they get shown clips and told what the tone/style of the series will be.

Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons visited the shooting of "The Star Beast" . (And hopefully got a few quid thrown their way too.)

Catherine Tate still doesn't have a clue what happens in the episodes. (Amusingly, Tennant tried to explain Flux/The Timeless Child to her, but didn't get far.)

********

On a separate note some snazzy new publicity photos dropped. Oddly they look like they form one big image but they don't.

Interesting that it's got bits from the 9/10th Doctor's sonic, and 11's, and 12's, but nothing from 13 (though that makes sense both aesthetically and in the fact that it was a casing made out of scrap metal in a pinch, it's honestly weirder that all the other Time-Lord technology matched the look during that run). The middle from the 9th Doctor's version (plus the tip and the visible core), the end is an abbreviated version of the 11th Doctor's back half (and the concept of the claws), and the front is a smoothed out-version of the 12th Doctor's sonic's back (the part with the dry-erase marker, IIRC).

I wonder if they're keeping this one around, or if it's just for the specials and the 15th Doctor is getting a new one, maybe one that's less of an anniversary-year throwback.

I imagine that they'll use this one for the specials and give the Fifteenth Doctor his own unique sonic. They can sell more toys that way!

Speaking of, how is this not up for pre-order anywhere yet?

Good grief, it's like a car commercial.

As very tired as I am of the sonic screwdriver, I do appreciate how more mechanical and substantive this version appears to be.

So much emphasis on this prop? I wish they'd find more than the same-old tinkle muzak that worked wonders in 2005 but is as overused as "teh sonic" has. Tapping the same key on the piano only goes so far to induce all them fan-pleasin' tears. I'm more amazed the replicas don't come with a mop and bucket...

Not just a mere prop, one that has been Flanderized horridly, and if that wasn't a subtle 4th wall gag prior to the P'Ting episode... Flanderization - TV Tropes It needn't be a character, but some incarnations treat it no different than they would a pet poodle. One could argue the same fate happened to the character long ago as well. But that's a separate debate, which I'd actually disagree with.

The only thing missing is a salesperson, in a horridly outdated plaid coat, and acting so over the top - like a kindergartner who just ate a pound of sugar, though that would actually be far more embarrassing.

There is a segment of Doctor Who fandom that are really into the various sonic screwdrivers--mostly as collectibles and/or props for their costumes. I imagine there's a little bit of merchandising (money) involved regarding the sonics, so this rather showcasing video isn't all that surprising in that regard, IMO...

Oh, I'm well aware. I appreciate the obsession of over it and not just because of the merchandising.

But that only makes me even more weary of it.

That does look like a real quality prop, very impressive, it actually looks like it might work now. lol
