To be fair we haven't had a lot of Dalek action for a while outside of the CiN Davros sketch.
So we’ve gone from actors not wanting to get locked into a long contract for the part to them not wanting it to be too short a gig? No pleasing some folks.Stories flying around suggesting the BBC are struggling to identify a new Doctor with actors now seeing it as a poisoned chalice and wanting reassurances that it will be a continuing part rather than just winding up in a McGann situation.
It strikes me as a story that could have some truth to it, mainly insofar as I think most actors would rather have an ongoing gig as opposed to a single guest appearance, but I don't think that's confined to Who and not sure it's a poisoned chalice. Playing the Doctor only once (originally) onscreen didn't do much to dent McGann's career after all.
The BBC do need to be careful though, we don't want them to hire a great actor for the Christmas special who then goes off and does other things because they don't nail them down to a contract for a few seasons at least (but at the same time I can appreciate they don't want to pay someone for a show that may not happen)

If it were to be RTD's exit story, that would indeed be a fantastic title - things left unsaid, etc.For a minute I thought "Things You Should Have Done' was the title(and it could've worked!).
That makes me hopeful that Ncuti will be in this, but we'll see.To be fair we haven't had a lot of Dalek action for a while outside of the CiN Davros sketch.
I'm not disputing that, I am hopeful. Darn difficult in this day and age, I know.I think it's highly unlikely we'll ever see Ncuti again.
I would have thought that the BBC would make a determination about Doctor Who's future, including finding a streaming partner, set funding, and length of contract, before even starting the search for a new Doctor. It seems like they'd need that in place before proceeding. At least, if they want to have a successful search!Stories flying around suggesting the BBC are struggling to identify a new Doctor with actors now seeing it as a poisoned chalice and wanting reassurances that it will be a continuing part rather than just winding up in a McGann situation.

Did they check next door? And here we go...
"As Rose Tyler is currently both missing from this universe and flagged as a complex space-time event, maybe keep an eye out. I’ve got the Vlinx scanning all media channels and the Subwave Network."
