Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

So apparently, the Mirror's reporting that Doctor Who is, in fact, not dead, likely heading on one year hiatus, but will come back in 2027, with or without Disney money.

Which, if true, makes sense. At least, to me.
I don't know if the Mirror actually has new information. But this status for DW is widely known amongst industry insiders. Disney's delay at making a decision means BW had to let people go and it was going to delay how quickly the show could return to our screens.

Well, looks like it's time for me to admit that I was wrong.

Obviously everyone missed the subtle nuance of what I was actually saying as I clearly knew ALL ALONG that Susan was returning and it's the rest of you doubters who should be apologizing right now as well as basking in my definitive and indisputable awesomeness. Bow down, everyone. BOW DOWN.

:shifty:

;)
Clearly, because no one on the Internet admits they're wrong. It's just not done!

In all fairness, these are pretty much just random reveals. Hard to be correct without actual clues to work with. But, I am very glad of this specific returning character!

O
So we can be pretty sure who the Unholy Trinity is.
What doesn't make sense is, why a radical blogger butthead is taking one seat of those.
My expectation is that the Rani(s) are playing him and will make him (or try to) the vessel for the Master. We still have one tooth encased Master unaccounted for and he would be a much better fit for this trio.
Do you all think he could sport a goatee?
Omega Needs a body. Just saying.

This is not from any leaks so pure speculation but I think they'll need a human to make the wishes for them.

Once again pure speculation but I think it's going to be revealed that the events of 'Wild Blue Yonder' caused the "real" universe to start to merge with the Land of Fiction, which will be the Underverse named in the episode descriptions.

This will explain all the weird shit that's happened over the past two series up to and including the previously mythical bi-regeneration becoming real and the Doctor will sacrifice himself separating the two universes again.

They might try to pull it further back. I was rewatching Robot of Sherwood, and there’s a spoon in it. Spoons are a recurring motif these last two years.

Another photo giving us a full look at Archie's Rani outfit. Interestingly Mrs Flood is wearing the jail cell keys from 'Lucky Day'. And are they inside one of those giant bone creatures we've seen in the trailers?

Bone stuff just makes me think they are pulling from The Ancestor Cell. Even all the bigeneration stuff feels like Faction Paradox or I.M.Foreman. All after Flux had a riff on The War in Heaven and the Klein Bottle universe. Guess there’s still plenty of stuff from the books for them to riff on an recontextulise for a few decades yet.

RTD said that that photo is misleading. The the two Rani count as one of the trinity. I’m assuming the third is

Omega

Also Andrew/Meglos, the 'great leaker', is back

He’s doubling down again on Billie Piper as the next doctor

There's still that Michelle Gomez appearance at the premier. Had Martin and Ford not appeared in the season I would've put her attendance down to a casual/friendly invite.

Just a thought.

Be great if their character saved the day tbh.

If
she does return, I would prefer it to be "on the side of the angels" so as not to undercut her development. You can play it for tragedy if she then becomes Dhawan or another evil incarnation (something similar to the Eleven in the audios, who had one "good" incarnation the others lock away in their shared mind when he regenerates.

Basically. 75 percent of what I didn’t like of what came next was how much it threw away such good stuff that came before. (The remaining 25 percent of what I didn’t like largely came down to how fundamentally shite at what might be called ‘the optics’ the production and writing team were in certain scenes. Bad subtexts over and over. I did think the actor was excellent though.)

Seems to me that this is Missy post bigeneration, so as to retcon the Dhawan Master as an incarnation that lacks the "goodness" of Missy on purpose. Or something, I dunno.

That would at least be a valid use of the concept. Thus far it’s mostly weakened the heart of the show.
