Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

As for that "murdered the Doctor's origins!!" stuff, we didn't even KNOW the Doctor's origins until the end of Troughton's era. We never really got told how long the Doctor and Susan had been travelling prior to ending up on Earth in Totter's Lane... And the Time Lords weren't exactly impressive when we DID meet them - mainly a bunch of old farts too busy recreating House of Cards without the reporter-shagging.

Murder away.

She was awared a medal by President Clinton at the end. That made it all worth it, not the inspiration it drew within her own race during an incredibly tumultuous time for the entire country, no-no.

But since you mentioned it, let's not forget the absolutely and completely forgettable villain who is so laughably one-note and paper-thin character-wise, its amazing he is never once mentioned as one of the worst villains in NuWho's history.

Without proof (as there's no one around to ask) I suspect that the Time Lords were always the idea: the new producer would be told "He's a Time Lord, we'll never explain that."
Verity Lambert said she was OK with the Time Lords, just not on showing them, and Derrick Sherwin said he didn't invent them, just decided it was time to see them.

Yeah the deal is now official but was much speculated upon. I'm not sure there will be much impact initially, but in the longer term if Bad Wolf continue to produce Doctor Who you imagine there could be deals to be done regarding international distribution etc. The BBC still own the IP though.
