Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I think Moffat actually summed it up best in an interview where he explained why the Doctor's personality and mannerisms change with regeneration. He compared it to people who feel and act different because of the particular kind of clothes or shoes they're wearing and reasoned if what a person wears can influence their personality to that degree, imagine how much suddenly having a completely different body and face could influence a person.

Totally fair. And while I did present my reasons for interpreting it as I did, I didn't want to argue your interpretation is illegitimate and apologize if it came across like that.

You're all good. Ironically, I was actually trying to make sure that you didn't think I felt like my interpretation was any more valid than yours.

I'm no biologist, but I'm certain to a degree our own bodies impact our personality too - hormone levels, chemicals, all that fun stuff.
It’s a known fact that life events of significance can have such an impact on an individual as to almost completely alter someone’s personality.
Bereavement is top of the list. Witnessing a catastrophe is another. Being victim of a crime yet another.
If it can happen without our biology being rewritten at a cellular level, stands to reason a body being rewritten at a cellular level would have a similar effect.
Core beliefs won’t necessarily change but the way the person expresses and implements them can radically change.

Who knows what the future holds. But RTD has said that the BBC's deal with Disney involved smaller budgets than other franchises. That might be a factor in DW's favor. And the deal is already in place, so any effects would be after the current arrangement expires presumably. But, yes, the trend towards cutting content costs across streamers might be problematic.

The question is, is RTD2 the same as RTD1? He’s been renewed, that’s it, some function of the Tardis…

Tardis had nothing to do with it, he went to get the job back after Moffat and Chibnall had their time with it.

Some article claimed RTD2 would be "radically different". Whether or not it actually is... the teasers can easily be misdirecting viewers as well.I wouldn't think too much into anything in any single direction. Unless they are "taking the piss" out of viewers, since the bit with the voting posters is as much anti-Robinson as it is pro-Saxon. Both were "meh" anyway. And, "obvs", the two lampposts so close together must surely be it's gonna be a parallel world adventure too.

I was quoting/paraphrasing the Second Doctors first line. :)

I hope its okay not to open a new thread for this question: Does he bring anybody from his old production team back with him? Is Murray Gold back too? I would absolutley love that!

We don't know who's doing the music yet but that have taken to using the Gold version of the theme in official videos and the like.

And of course Bad Wolf is run by Jane Tranter who brought the series back in the first place and Julie Gardner who was Executive Producer first time round. Phil Collinson who was the other Producer is also back.

Andy Pryor remains, as ever, the Casting Director and the only person (I think) to have worked on the series continuously since its return.

Not me. I love his over-the-top bombastic stuff.
Not me. I hated that bombastry. I loved his quieter pieces but they were far and wide in between that parts I did not enjoy.

I much rather have a new composer altogether. And I say that as one of the few people who loved Segun Akinola's work.
