We can only take ten episodes into the contest in GTD. Since there was a tie for last place (making 11 episodes) we will have to pick two out of the three episodes that came in the final position to make it into the final ten contests in GTD. The episodes below are automatically in as they received 18 or more votes to be in the final ten.

Balance of Terror
The Doomsday Machine
Amok Time
Journey to Babel
The City on the Edge of Forever
Where No Man Has Gone Before
The Devil in the Dark
Mirror, Mirror

The next three episodes received 17 votes, so you have to pick two of these three to go with the above 8 for the GTD contest.

The Cage
The Corbomite Maneuver
The Enterprise Incident

Aww D$&%...I've got to throw one of these away????

Well then, I'm keeping...
The Cage
The Corbomite Maneuver

Pinned. And The Cage and The Corbomite Maneuver are both better than The Enterprise Incident.

How do we go about bringing back "Mudd's Women" into the Top 10? I'm not joking! Kick out "Devil in the Dark" and throw it in there. While we are at it, kick out "Amok Time" and throw in "The Naked Time."

Anyway, I also picked "The Cage" and "Corbo".

I think this is the first one of these contests I've ever participated in where both pilots made it to the final ten. Interesting.

"The Cage" and "The Corbomite Manoeuvre" got my votes. I like "The Enterprise Incident", but the other two are that bit better.

The lineup is otherwise pretty predictable. The final vote is going to be hell.

Not surprising as it's the only series that had more than 1 pilot. :vulcan: Unless you're talking about other TOS polls in that case my remark would be illogical.

I voted for The Cage and The Corbomite Maneuver.

I'd agree with you, except for the line Spock delivered that may be his best ever:

Romulan Commander: "Who are you, what are you that you could do this to me?" (I think)

Spock: "First Officer of the Enterprise"

^ Great line indeed. But the other two episodes are still better.

That was indeed what I was talking about. I can't remember a TOS poll where both of them made it to the final ten.

A little off-topic, but I will never never never understand why people insist on "The Cage" being such a great episode, yet "The Menagerie" - which IS "The Cage" plus another great story with the familiar characters - doesn't even make it on that list. If anything, "Menagerie" made the good first pilot into something amazing. And besides, "The Cage" isn't even an official episode...

So I had to abstain from giving it my vote. Enterprise Incident is good, but has no business in a Top 10. I voted only Corbomite.

The Cage & The Enterprise Incedent. :)

Three great episodes, but I have to choose these two.

Spock: "First Officer of the Enterprise"

But surely that doesn't beat this Spock line from The Cage:

(jumps in surprise on the transporter pad) "THE WOMEN!"

And Eddie Roth, I can't speak for anyone else, but I can tell you why The Cage is my favorite. I personally think it's the one episode in the whole series (and I mean the whole series) where TPTB got everything right. Here are a few of my favorite things about it:

-The women in the crew wore pants. (I know this isn't a huge deal for a lot of people, but it is for me, and it was something that you didn't see again until TWoK.)

-I think a greater blow for future diversity was struck by having a woman XO than by having "the guy with the ears".

-And speaking of Number One, it is my personal opinion that she was the one XO in the series (and again, I mean the whole series) that actually acted like an XO on a consistent basis. Spock had his moments, Riker was passable in the job but not great, Kira Nerys was more Devil's Advocate than First Officer, and Chakotay and T'Pol simply sucked at the job.

As for the Menagerie, I don't count that as a favorite because it was just a clip show, and the fact that the clips came from my favorite episode of Trek won't change it into one of my favorites.

The Corbomite Maneuver
The Enterprise Incident

The Cage is a great sf story but it comes across a little dry to me Pike/Number One/Spock is a poor substitute for Kirk/McCoy/Spock. The first pilot's characters were all too analytical-minded. :vulcan:

If we end up with a three way tie a week from now, I personally will shoot everyone posting in this thread.

^
Uh...will you accept the excuse of someone else stole my logon name and password...and...uh...voted and posted in this thread? I mean...uh...yes...they voted and posted what I would have done...but...uh...they did it without my permission...uh...would you still shoot me? I mean I ... uh...know where they live if you...uh...would rather get the guilty...uh...party.
