RTD: I wanted to do a Star Trek crossover

Well, apparently, Russell T. Davies doesn't yet have anything lined up to do after Who, and there are rumours there might be a new Trek show on TV if the movie does well, so maybe we'll get to see him take on Trek, after all. ;)

In that article he mentioned that he was offered another science fiction show but he couldn't say what it was and he turned down the new Star Wars series. And he's been talking about finally doing that MGM show, More Gay Men.

He also mentioned being offered to reboot "Lost in Space". I must have overread the remarks concerning the Star Wars series.

That was Tennant.

The very idea disturbs me. Trek and Who should never cross-over, and the thought of Ruskie being allowed anywhere near Trek fills me with dread.

The very idea delights me. Trek and Who would be great together, and the thought of RTD being allowed anywhere near Trek fills me with joy.

:)

I assume you are being sarastic

Actually, as long as the story is out of continuity for both series (since Doctor Who's history contradicts Trek's, and Trek is fictional in the Whoniverse as established in "The Empty Child"), I really would enjoy seeing the TARDIS materialize on the Enterprise bridge and the Doctor team up with Captain Picard or Kirk.

And goodness knows RTD would do better at Trek than B&B ever did. For one thing, his characters actually feel like people, not passionless robots.

Yeah, the only way it could work is as a 'two different universes meet' storyline.
Although there is a lot of potential for non canon fan fiction.
I also remember reading a Trek book years ago that made an offhand reference to an isolationist race living in the Kasterborous sector that had mastered time travel.

There are things about Russ I quite like. He can write very good stories at times, and his enthusiasm is often so delightful it's contagious.

He just needs someone standing behind him with a big stick, ready to whack him over the head whenever he has some hare-brained idea like this one presented here.

You mean like when he had the hare brained idea to bring back Dr. Who?:cardie:

No.
