Round 2 Update(s)?

I was wondering if there are/were any updates regarding the Round 2 TOS Enterprise in 1/350 scale? Knowing my luck the thing won't be seeing the light of day, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

It's so highly anticipated that they're probably waiting until they have some real progress to report. Otherwise, everyone and their grandmother will start pestering them with "When is it coming out?" every five seconds.

That was in the blueprint stages back when Polar Lights/Playing Mantis got sold to RC2 the first time. I'm sure the paperwork is still on file somewhere, but right now it feels like it's very low on the priority totem pole.

Right now, Round2's priority seems to be improving the AMT kits (within limits of ROI) and continuing the 1000 scale line, with 350 as the "premium" line of one every couple of years. Personally, I think they know that if they do any 350 next other than the TOS E, the lynch mobs will form very quickly.

Aye... but after the TOS ship (which I WILL buy, if produced), they ought to do the 1701-D.

The latest word on the 350-E is; Not Good. You can find some info over at Hobbytalk.com.

They haven't canceled it, but it is a costly undertaking and apparently not everyone at Round 2 has faith. So it's just treading water at the moment.

Eesh... well, I really hope they end up making it... I would LOVE to have a big TOS E.

They'd only be able to do that at 1000 scale where it would come out a few inches larger than the AMT version which is 1400 scale. At 350, the D would literally be the size of the 6 footer FX model.

Costly in the current economic climate where more people are out of work and have less spare money for such a big purchase. If they're sitting on it strictly for current economical and ROI reasons, I can deal with that. Taking that out of the equation though, there's no reason it won't be a success otherwise.

Yeah, and it would also cost several hundred bucks and have to get shipped 4 to a trailer truck.

Lotta people dream about owning FX models or the equivalent thereof but have no idea of the costs involved, not to mention the storage & display space.
