Rough Beasts of Empire excerpt

Nice iMac.
I think so too. He says hello.

Oh, the books look cool too.
There really is something cool about seeing a book you've written in its final published form. If you ever get a chance to do this, I highly recommend it.

That's the left side of the desk. The right side is a disaster.

Probably that just his "photo opportunity" desk, and the real one is behind the camera.
You'd think that either of these sentiments might be right, but truth be told, I much prefer working in a neat, organized environment. Go figure.

Of course, I'm usually drunk when I write....

"Write drunk, edit sober" if my memory serves me right, Hemingway said that.
And its true, my best ideas has come to me when i had a bit of the good stuff.

Didn't Two-Face have a ravaged left-side face and a proper right-side face?

Whatever. :)

Oh, no! He's Mirror Two-Face! Who's... just exactly as evil. But with a goatee.

"Mirror Two-Face is evil on the right side! All of his people are evil on the right side!"

Re: Off to pick up ROugh Beasts of the Empire

I think I'll go check my B&N and Borders today, just in case.

No need for a whole new thread for this. Merging with the existing RBoE thread.

You know what happens when you edit somber, right? The Bell Jar.

I believe I saw the movie once. Had a 70's weekend with a few mates. Then again, i cant be sure if it was The Bell Jar or not since i started drinking half way through Mad Max... Things get fuzzy after that... Have a faint recollection of riding my fiancee's ATV, but that's it. Woke up in the morning with a headache i will remember until the day i die.

...my writer's copies arrived this evening.

Why do they send you several copies?
I negotiate for the publisher to send me a certain number of copies when I sign a contract to write the book. Obviously, I don't want to have to go out and purchase my own work to have for myself, and to be able to pass out to friends and family. This is standard practice within the publishing industry.

I placed my order online yesterday (Merry Christmas to me ). But before I sneak a peek at the online excerpts, I'm curious as to whether the Sisko and Spock stories are at all related?
