Ronda Rousey

Big Rousey fan over here.

The entire Correia fight fits in a single gif. I'll try to track down a copy and post it in the thread, it's a thing of beauty. It ends with her feeding Correia's "don't cry" insult back to her, which is extra satisfying when you know just how far over the top Correia's pre-match trash talk really went.

No doubt there will be people who try to play it off like Rousey is a fluke produced by an extremely weak field of competitors. No. None of the people she's beating are wimps or slouches, and the women's field is higher-quality across the board now than it's ever been (even if the women's fight game in UFC is still catching up to the men's in some respects). She's just that much better than all of them. She's what people like Wanderlei and Anderson Silva or even Royce Gracie were earlier in the history of the men's sport, and deserving of the same respect.

That she's also a mega-babe -- and one who doesn't have patience for being told her body "isn't feminine" -- is just icing on the cake. She's an inspiration for women and girls everywhere, I'm glad my niece is growing up in the Rousey era. It's like getting to watch the early days of the career of a female Cassius Clay or Sonny Liston.

I do know if Channing Tatum can get better as an actor, so can Ronda! She is as Elite as they get like male counterparts in various sports, heck there are female athletes in other sports that get ignored and when they do get attention get flack for expanding out from sports. :sigh:

I don't care a whit if Rousey can or can't act, to be honest. She's a great fighter and that's all she ever needs to be. :techman:

No doubt but she seems to want to be an actress too & I hope she can dominate that as well. :)

ETA: Ronda Rousey as Captain Marvel!

Channing Tatum got better as an actor?!!

Anyway Ronda is a fighting machine and a great example for women.

Most importantly she haaaaawt!

I don't follow UFC but watching that Gif of the fight, man she's vicious in a good way.

From what i've seen on Youtube of her besides the ring paints a picture of a down to earth and fun woman who got there through hard work and she knows it.

She's also a saint for repeatedly having to endure dumbass questions like "Can you beat up a man" / "Do you have sex before a match?" etc (basically stupid questions that aim at trying to show her off as the pretty girl fighter and nothing else).

Personally i agree that she's very attractive but her current fighter physique puts me off a little bit.. her arms are too muscular and the shoulders are too broad but then she's an active fighter so it's got to be like this but i like my women with more feminine body types.

However when she quits MMA and loses muscle mass she will be a 100% knockout and i'll be curious what she will do next (acting is a bad choice because she can't).

I think it will be hard for her to get better at acting while being a fighter but if she can put in the energy she put in to be a fighter into acting then she will be great. :)

Since her cameo at Wrestlemania 31 this April, the fans of WWE have been drooling at the prospect of her coming over there after her MMA career wraps and dismantling their entire Divas division (starting with the boss's daughter, Stephanie McMahon).

Rousey is certainly an interesting sports personality. Now she is saying she could beat Floyd Mayweather in a "no rules" match. This, I take it, means eye gouging, groin kicks, and tittie twisting , among other things, are all okay. As the article said, this match will never happen.

Mayweather would have nothing to gain and EVERYTHING to lose, though it would be a monster payday no doubt. Imagine the still shots alone of him punching a woman in the face.

For Rousey it would be a godsend, even if she lost -- which she most definitely would. But who can blame her for trying to stoke the fires for this one?

I'd not go that far and rule Rousey out.. if it's a no rules fight an MMA Fighter definitely has an advantage due to his wider range of attack possibilities such as kicks and takedowns.

A boxer is not used to covering his legs or defending against grappling attacks, he may win the boxing part.

However there still is the gender gap.. even if Rousey could beat up a normal guy Mayweather is a professional fighter so physically he is superior. If he can adjust himself to MMA fighting styles then Rousey will have problems and most likely lose.

If he underestimates ground fighting a chokehold or arm bar will finish him.
